Audi R8 Driving Thrill just £57.15 delivered! @ BuyAGift

Just been browsing Buyagift and noticed that the Audi R8 driving thrill has been reduced by £30 to £69, by using the 20% off code this brings the total (with £1.95 delivery) to just £57.15 which I think is a fab price. Quidco also offer a massive 15% cashback, they state it can't be used with a code but I ordered something with the code and my cashback was validated - that would bring this down to an incredible £48.87!!

I drove the Audi R8 with this voucher about a month ago and it really was great fun! A must for any car fan. The power is incredible.

There are also Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini Thrils for £75. Makes a fantastic present, it's not every day you get to drive a supercar (unless you own one!) ;)

Err, wouldn't that depend on how fast you are driving? (i.e. for maximum time in the car, just drive round the track at say 30 mph)

Dont waste your time, you can go as fast as you can in a straight line, but the instructor wont allow you to go around the corners as fast as you like, you have to slow to 20 mph, he will constantly jab at the dual break if you dont!!! which is very frustrating, and defies the point, you are suppose to drive these cars fast!!! I killed the car and would say a lap last roughly 2 mins, very exciting when the track is clear, but, when you have a 50 year old woman in front of you who is supposed to move to the side to let you pass, when you lap them, it can be pretty crap!!! The track is straight up, turn, straight down, turn. Not so exciting!!! Nothing like what the stig gets to drive on. And above all, arrive early as it gets very busy and the wait in between each car you drive can be long. 20 to 30 mins. The experience where the instructor takes you around in a high speed passenger ride!!! Was the best!!! The instructor was not to happy when i told him my mum drives faster than you, and i thought we were going the shop . You are suppose to hold a full driving license but my friend forgot his, it was a sunday so they let him drive as they could not do a DVLA check on a sunday it was closed, Tip for all you banned drivers! This would void the insurance, but you have as much chance of crashing with instructor jabbing at the break as winning the lottery. Hope this helps. And i look forward to all the 50 year old womens comments! ha ha

With all due respect you dont know what you're talking about. I went on one of these the week before last and drove a Gallardo and an Aston V12. I drove both like I'd stolen them with full instruction from the Instructor who was actually telling me to go faster.

I did some amazing overtakes. Max speed achieved was 152 on the straight in Aston. At one corner I misjudged the entry point and had tyre's squealing in the Gallardo.

It was fantastic fun !

Anyone actually managed to get through the order process for this..????

HOT if still available...

I guess it all depends what instructor you get. Or maybe Tony1234's instructor had a near fatal accident earlier in the week when someone called Cloud_Tiger was driving so decided to play it safe.

....in an Audi R8 supercar yes - I'd like to see you try and drive one round a track for less than £50 elsewhere! You clearly don't appreciate cars so this offer isn't for you, but thanks for your helpful comment:whistling:

Been looking for a driving deal for a while for my dad and have plumped for this.

Shame it's only 6 miles, I originally read it as 6 laps. Those that have been, how long did you get?
#26
fantastic, code works 123123 and just ordered two
#27
seems a good offer, but sounds like the whole experience last a couple of hours max. Any deals where you get to drive multiple cars for the whole day?

Maybe you should race against say John Watson and then maybe you'll be a bit more respectful.

I did mine at Elvington and thoroughly enjoyed it. They only do it there around once a month in York and they bring down about 6 or 7 cars from the south. I was the only one booked on the R8 so I was straight in and the company running the day (Vision Motorsport) were excellent. It wasn't too busy either, but this was on a weekday.

I did a DB9 one a while back, before my lap the instructor took three of us out in a BMW D3, that was very fast.

I've done several of these and that too is my experience, Hit 170mph in the Lambo, the instructor was telling me to ignore the break zones as they are set for idiots. You have a least a second of 2 more in reality.

If you show you can actually drive then they encorage you to hit its potential, red lining, overtaking etc.

I was virtually in a race with the Gallardo when I was in the F360 Scuderia, neither of us was going to budge when we were in front and the instructor was having a whale of a time.

To add insult to your post I've never been on one of these cars that even has "dual controls". It's not a driving lesson. They know you paid decent money to spank the car. The only rules were reckless driving and you're off, slides and you're off.

Maybe the OP was of the "teenage joyrider" mentality, which is why he was taken out with dual controls and only allowed to drive fast in a straight line?

It seems that the more experienced drivers are allowed to drive the cars properly around corners

Thats the beauty of that statement... Due respect... if none is due, you dont have to give any :p

Reading about some of your experiences sounds real fun...so in the light of that I advise you to AVOID the Mercedes Benz track day as its tiny and the fastest you get to drive is about 80mph....although the SL63 AMG at over 500bhp was fun it did have dual brakes and overall not worth the price paid to drive like I was on my way to a funeral
#37
I'm assuming there's some kind of age restriction on these things - or can anyone go holding a full UK driving licence?
#38
Hi ,

think your going on about another track this wont be at Mercedes Benz track !

I never knew that the R8 was classed as a "super car!" :?
I get to drive these beauties around for free at my work and with no body about to check me speed lol :whistling:

An alternative would be to rent an R8 ( ~£400 for a full day ), and take it to an open track day at one of the countries race circuits. (price varies)
Hours of driving it ragged! and it doesn't even matter if you crash it =]
