I think it's a stonking deal - would happily pay fifty quid for a shot, if I didn't live in Inverness
#5
Awesome!! would love to do this...now this is more inviting :-D
#6
3 laps is not a lot, and the track will not be the full silverstone circuit
#7
Top deal.... definately a super car in my eyes!!!

Anything less than an F1 car and I will take a taxi ;)
#10
Pretty sure this is meant to be one of the best handling cars ever created... Friend of mine test drives cars and agrees 100%!
Looks like a wicked deal to me

After watching the 'top gear' guys,I don't think you'd be able to drive an F1 car.
Seriously,lol.

50 quid to drive a 100 grand car ? ( at Silverstone !! ),possibly well worth it !:whistling:

I would agree with you if it was the standard R8 - but it's not the standard R8, the V10 is much quicker and is worthy of supercar status.

Faster than 911 Turbos, faster than a Ferrari 360, not far off the pace (couple of tenths) of an F430 or standard Gallardo!

Thought I will answer it myself!

Itinerary

* 10 minutes: In car safety briefing
* 5.7 miles/3 laps approx. in the Audi R8
* Certificate presentation

Event duration: 0.5 hours approx

This is the car that Iron Man drives. Probably has something to do with it!
#18
If it wasnt a 200+ mile round trip then I'd do this. But that would cost me £40+ in todays petrol prices (yes my car isn't very economical). Shame its not at brands, worse track but nearer. Still a hot deal, the V10 R8 is a very nice car.
#19
im from Notts so its only maybe just over 1 hour there, might be worth it for my 28th bday

Just a heads up as I did one of the Silverstone experiences no less than a month ago:

* You don't drive the Silverstone track at all, you drive the Stowe circuit which is inside the international circuit and it basically a big coned area - no kerbs, run off etc... Not a big deal for many but not being able to drive the proper circuit was a ball breaker for me.
* The atmosphere and instructors were much more professional and friendly than any of the previous experiences that I've been on. The briefing was very detailed but perhaps too complicated for inexperienced drivers to understand.
* You're given more freedom too, i.e. all gears, and if you dont want to listen to the instructor and just bomb around with the back end out they dont mind unlike some places.
* No introductory laps driven by the instructor - dissapointing as you don't have any feeling for the track first.
* Insurance waiver is £10 - cheaper than most but a necessity IMHO.
* Photos are £20 each or £25 with a CD-ROM to keep - no option to buy the CD-ROM only of course. Bear in mind these possible additional costs.
* My photos weren't the ones I ordered - I Wrote to Silverstone and received a nice apology phone call and the correct photos in the post.

Overall better than any other experience that I've done but it should be clearly stated that you dont drive the Silverstone track.

It shows up as the V8 version, not the V10...?
#22
Are there any companies that offer this kind of thing up in Scotland?

lmao!
This is a fast car, but a supercar it isn't.
If you want to drive an R8 just ask some of the chavs who blast around Liverpool city centre in them every Saturday night for a go

not gonna get fast lap times doing power slides im afraid :p
#36
That seems ridiculous, save up and put it towards your own car!
#37
I did this at a place hear Leicester a couple of years ago. (Prestwold Hall)
the instructors were great and let you do almost anything (within reason).
It was great fun outbraking a DB9 with the instructor telling me to hold off on the brakes :puntil the last moment.
If you want extra laps though, they sting you for about £25 each lap. Bear in mind that it is literally just out, around and back in, no warm-up lap and no slow down.

I would be tempted at that price if it was closer.
Great day out, even my missus enjoyed it. She had a few laps as a passenger in a Radical and was shaking like a leaf afterwards.:-D

Donnington FTW - until they dug it up anyway...

BEWARE the time in the car is very short 3 laps, each lap = Length: 1.969 miles you do the maths :?

5-7 mins top in the car if you are lucky
