Is this definitely national - just phoned my local dealership and they knew nothing of it? Is a Lookers Audi dealership, they were quoting me PCP deals, with a £5k deposit from Audi, as opposed to personal leasing deal, which is what this deal looks like.

deffo great deal due to 20k miles per annum, which I don't think everyone thinks of and voting cold, if you can claim business mileage from employer like I am, you will still walk away with profit - 10,000 x 45 p +10,000 x 25p - 20,000x10p(fuel) = £5,000 x 2 years = £10,000- £9,615= £385 profit

Forgetting insurance?
And 10p per mile fuel would need about 85 mpg?

Thanks for the deal OP. And for your informative banter. Always a pleasure.
price gone up ...

This is a bit confusing. The service plan add on the Audi site says 3-5 years but the small print says 36-72 months which is 6 years.

Dealer was hesitant to sign me up to this as they think Audi finance will just decline as my car is now 5 months and a few days old.

Can anyone confirm they have had this go through for cars older than 5 years?

Thanks

If you car is 5 years 11 months then its still only 5 years old. We paid and was accepted at our local Audi dealer and our car was literally days short of its 6th birthday. :)

Oh no you bought a premium car but don't expect to pay a premium for maintaining it? Get real. I suppose it would be ok for British Airways to hire halfords to do their aircraft servicing?
If you want cheap. Then you probably shouldn't be looking German to begin with, go form your orderly queue at Dacia and Hyundai.

If I am paying a premium for a car, I expect premium quality parts that require less maintenance. This is true of most products: if you buy a more expensive washing machine it will last longer and take more of a beating.

With a 1 in 27 engine failure rate for a new Audi however (the second worst in the industry), the German auto manufacturers seem to be delivering the exact opposite of the consumer ideal "you get what you pay for."

Also, it is widely accepted that dealerships (this applies to all dealers, not just Audi) on the whole do a far inferior job compared to independent specialists for that brand. To use your analogy, taking your car to an Audi dealer is like British Airways giving you the first class lounge but still taking the plane to Halfords round the back.

I'm always dubious of free check like this, when they are checking your hoses for example they can be put under stress that might not happen during normal driving conditions. They will no doubt find something that needs doing, if they don't is that any guarantee that everything will be fine during the winter months? not really.

Good for free, but either outcome may well be pointless in my opinion.
(Unnecessary work being done or a false sense of security with no work being done)

Get some decent breakdown cover, check your antifreeze instead.

When it breaks, fix it.
That's it why bother with any safety checks when you can buy breakdown cover? And you check your antifreeze how??

In a nutshell, you mix the correct type of antifreeze with the right amount of water (if applicable) and top up your cars coolant tank to the required level. Easier than making a cup of coffee.

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/breakdown_advice/how-to-check-your-engine-coolant.html

Nice link to explain.

Its like the yearly MOT they never check every possible area of your car, they simply don't have the time, they check they key areas and pick a few more at random also looking for any obvious problems - having a brand new MOT doesn't mean your car is safe or won't breakdown. A full service is more comprehensive, although you do have to pay more for it.

By mixing 50/50 is NOT checking your antifreeze it topping it up! Antifreeze has to be changed it does not last for ever in your cooling system and just topping it up is doing you no favours long term. Get it checked!
An MOT is in no way connected to weather you car will breakdown! its safety! (at the time of test) there are no random areas to check on a MOT all parts to be checked are documented and you can request a full list of Testable items from VOSA
"A full service is more comprehensive" wrong! there are different levels of "full service" as you like to call them, and this will not ensure your car will not break down!
You can only minimise the chance of breaking down not illuminate it!
This is why if you are offered a FREE winter check by a main agent you would be stupid NOT to take advantage of it! Just avoid Lego mechanics like Hell frauds

Just to let everyone know... It's worth reading the terms and conditions for the service plan. I used to own a golf mk5 and had bought a two year service plan which I paid for fully in advance (instead of paying monthly). Turns out, if your car gets written off and you've only serviced your car once, they will not refund you any money.

Then you would simply phone them up and change the car on the service plan. This is providing you have the same make of course

Doesn't work as easy as you suggest.

I had the same service plan with VW for a 6 yr servicing regime, changed the car 3 years later for a new VW & they told me the plan was only valid to the car already noted on it. I received a refund that was disproportionate to the time & service left & to add insult to injury the offer of a new plan was nearly 70% higher so I told them no & organised it through a local Skoda dealer who gave me the same plan for more or less the same previous cost. It goes on the VAG database so the car gets all work & servicing done by Skoda & I save lots of dosh but crucially have found a great dealer.

sorry - realised that was bit long - basically - just go into an Audi garage with your eyes open, and double check / ask before you say yes to additional work!

Just found this! I got my cam belt done with them a few weeks ago and didn't even know about this. Just booked my free MOT! Thanks!
mine offered it cheaper but iv done it locally now bit they did want £100 more to change the belt than a local garage.
mot cost £30-£40. still if is had to do mine I still would have gone with audi them ?
Rip off audi service centres avoid at all cost sooooooooooooooo cold
kevinp93
adam_holcombe
So cold it hurts..

Fixed price of £449 for cambelt change at Audi.

I had mine done at a local VAG specialist for £205.

MOTs cost AT MOST £35, so you'd have to have 7 MOTs to recoup your loss..

Thought MOT's cost a maximum of £54.85 :o

I agree that £54.85 is the maximum theoretical price, but most garages will do it for anywhere between £20-35.

surely though yes its free, but they would sting you and chances are you car would more likely fail over something that doesnt exist than at a normal MOT garage so they can make money on you???

Also what is likely to be the cost per hour to get the work done??

At the end of the day if it looks too good to be true then it probably is.....
the only chance u see Liverpuds in an Audi is if they stole it...lol

Wouldn't give Audi the time of day to work on my S3 anymore the amount of damage they've done to my car over the years with there so called servicing unbelievable, and the nuts and fixings that they never put back they must have a box full every week. Only defence i can give them is there allocated time to do the work is too tight for the technicians:x

Really? A full box every week? A tad exaggeration maybe?

Nope - 3- 7 years old - like it says.

So how did you get it free if your car is over 7yrs old?

Maybe they hoped to fleece you for new turbo's, hi-spec brakes etc. Lol!

JimyFloyd;7433674
My 10 year old RS4 was done by Wimbledon Audi no probs, passed straight through and didn't cost me a penny. Fantastic service.

If i didn't think it was going to sail through would go for the £50 option which is the government price pretty much for an MOT anyway!

I wouldn't, however, trust them to service the car etc.!

I have a can of the Lidl stuff, not used it yet.

It is also worth removing the pollen filter (under my bonnet on my Audi) and spray dettol anti-bacterial spray in to the entrance way while the air con is running. Give it a good spray. That kills off bacteria before the "recirculating" part of the system that the Lidl/Aldi cans will get.

Oh and if using the Lidl/Aldi stuff remember to set your aircon to recirc while the can is spraying.

I think a lube service is where they use some ky jelly on your @rse before they shaft you with a hefty bill :p
MrPinchPenny;5966388
In your original post it says £99 for a "standard" service,
In your last post it says "interim" service.
Are they the same?

If you look at your Audi service book there are 2 types of service (Standard / interim) which is basically an oil and filter change along with a bit of lube here and there and the general checks of engine coolant etc, they call it a safety check.

The other type is the major service, on my car its every 60k miles and covers all filters along with the standard oil and filter change and safety checks.

So for me its either a standard every 20k mile service or an every 60k mile major service.

Then theres the additional work outside of these services, brake fluid change , gearbox oil etc etc.

spraint;5966408
A full valet? Doubt it, because Audi charges the best part of a ton just for that. If you bring your car in for anything, you get a complementary wash and brush up, but no more than that.

Well I was impressed, when they told me the car has had complementary valet I thought yeah right, but in all honesty it was a good job.
Full body wash & Wax with a chamois dry, car tyres were sprayed or painted to make them look like new.
Inside the car was given a full vacuum and clean, dashboard shine , glass clean etc.
Throw away foot mats left to protect newly cleaned carpet.

Not bad I thought, they did'nt have to do it, doubt you would get that at ATS , National or one of the other big names
Audi owners can register on their website for their next MOT to be free anyway:- http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/owners_area/Servicing_with_Audi/free-mot.html

"If your Audi is more than three years old, it must undergo an MOT every year. As an Audi owner you can now benefit from having your next test carried out for free. So you can sit back and relax while we take care of your MOT.

If a repair is required, your car is in the hands of the experts in Vorsprung durch Technik. And what’s more, our Audi Genuine parts and labour come with a two-year guarantee*. Naturally there are no hidden charges and no extra work would be carried out without your permission.

Arranging your MOT through us ensures that it won’t just be your car that receives the highest levels of care and service. As for the price, that couldn’t be simpler. It’s absolutely free."

[QUOTE=spendaglenda;5956089]Thank you so much for the post, I took advantage of the free MOT in March which my trusty A4
passed with flying colours - the Audi Dealer in colchester were so helpful even tho' I was not a paying customer -
they even lent me an umbrella and drove me into town whilst my car was being attended to.
I have booked for next years free MOT as it is certainly not a 'rip off' offer, just Audi keeping their customers happy!! PS do BMW etc give any free MOT's!!!
I am now dreaming of owning a white A5!!!!:stocking: hint hint santa:santa:[/QU i found colchester audi to be very helpful too.i needed a new springs just days before xmas and they bent the rules for me n ordered one s part of the workshp order as the last day for customers orders had expired. and were cheaper than ones from motor factor quotes too!!!.....wish i cud say the same thing about teesside audi my experience of them is that they r money grabbin robbin jobsworth, they seem to charge top whack for every thing.....i was sat waitin for my car while it was gettin a job under warrantly and heard them talkin on the phone, obviuosly rippin a woman off with jobs either she didnt need doin and or chargin a fortune to do ,which cud easily been done for a quarter the price at another garage, changing brake pads which were partly worn but will ''need'' changing soon n changing windscreen wipers, puttin pressure on her to do those jobs when it was ob she didnt kno wat they were talkin about
Oh dear, took the rs4 in for the free mot, it came back with a scratch that wasn't there when handed in looks like a tool was dropped on it, was livid, but funnily enough the "salesman" said that it was noted down when the car had been checked by.....him, not in my presence by coincidence. My car is immaculate and only just over three years old, felt quite helpless as I know I should have been there when they checked the car, as it will come down to my word against his. Have not had this trouble with all Audi dealerships, just this particular one in the NW!! Beware!!
Audi's are junk, my A3 tdi has broken an engine mount off the engine block, apparantly a common fault. I wonder will audi fix that for me? No chance!
thanks
There are some bad Audi dealers but there are some good ones too. This can be said of main dealers in general. The problem is working out which are good and which are not.

Here’s a tip, if they don't have at least one qualified mechanic that you can speak to in their service reception, then you have your first clue.

I am interested but would like to know exactly what the "Dealer Deposit -£2,500" is about.
Would you mind PM'ing me the name of the dealer you are negotiating with ?

if a customer is buying the car using audi's finance deal (1.8% APR) - the dealer is then required by audi to discount the vehicle by £2,500 - this is on the audi website as well. the additional £585 is what i personally negotiated with the dealers in Hull :-D

JPS;5299022
Yes but that is something you have managed to personally do, if someone is after one of these I am pretty sure they will go down to the showroom themeselves and get the deal taylored for them.

If I go down to the market and purchase something with x amount off, I don't come and shout about it on here each and every time I get it slightly cheaper. If I book a holiday with cheap flights I don't come on here and post each flight - it is quite specified and unique to each individual.

Again well done for getting a good deal - it sounds to me like you are looking for moral support for people to say buy it buy buy it - are you sure you can actually afford it??

that's your personal choice  i wanted to share the deal which i managed to get, so that others could do the same with their dealers too! i wasn't looking for any moral support - i wanted someone to beat the deal & no one did. so i placed the order for the car today! :whistling:

Hi Thanks for the reply,
Like you say I wil have to state what I want and see if they can accomodate my request, the trouble is this is a good deal, But not a great deal but the FOC metallic paint would swing it!!
As you say I would like them to have to work at getting me to buy rather than me going to them with all the info from the net, and telling them what I want and advising them of the offers that they can do that are listed for all to see?
I was told that black is the most common colour and just for that reason alone I don't want a black one! and I should put a 1K deposit down and sort the details out later? but this would only reduce my barganing power, so I have left at the moment hoping for them to come back & contact me?
nimachka;5308959
Hi I too am planning on ordering this deal, but can I ask how you wet about getting the metallic paint? included in the deal.. thanks

Just sit down and talk to a salesman or woman. Tell him or her that you are interested in this vehicle but you need metallic paint as well. He or she will add the metallic paint on and you can then say although its a good deal, its a bit over budget and ideally you were looking to pay 19k. Start there and ask them to do the best they can. See what they say and then say the max you can pay is pay 20k and in the end see what the salesman or woman has to say.

Remember, you dont HAVE to buy the car. They have to sell to you. If your not happy with the price they are offering, talk to them. If they dont budge and are just being *beeps* (there are quite a few of them) then you have the right to walk away and try another dealer. If they are good and willing to negotiate, then show your interest and tell them you are very much interested and would really like to do this deal but at £xx,xxx price.

Hope that helps!
mervinsx;5302624
i placed an order for the vehicle today and also managed to get a free metallic paint (worth £585) upgrade. thanks for all the supporting comments and to those who thought this deal was cold, please pay a visit to your audi dealer and see for yourself what the A6 provides, compared to the all-famous ford mondeo!

Fantastic news mate. Glad you haggled more as I mentioned earlier. Believe me you got a great deal. A prestigious car like the audi a6 and with all those options and at that price is a fantastic buy. Hope you have many happy and health miles behind the wheel. Good luck and dont forget to report back when you take delivery.
Hi I too am planning on ordering this deal, but can I ask how you wet about getting the metallic paint? included in the deal.. thanks
i placed an order for the vehicle today and also managed to get a free metallic paint (worth £585) upgrade. thanks for all the supporting comments and to those who thought this deal was cold, please pay a visit to your audi dealer and see for yourself what the A6 provides, compared to the all-famous ford mondeo!

Where did you get an A3 for £1900 :w00t:

You know they have been making A3s for over 10 years, of course you can get them for next to nothing, it's just a normal old car.

What sort of comment is that?
I drive an A3 that I bought for £1900.
I'm £4000 in debt (not including my student loan) and on my overdraft limits.

This is a godsend to someone like me.
