You need these to know when it's safe to accelerate with vigour (the standard coolant gauge in cars is inaccurate).

I wouldn't buy a cheap mechanical one like this though as you have to run oil pipes into the cabin - if it bursts you've got hot, sticky feet, etc.

Whilst the standard coolant gauge is indeed inaccurate, it also doesn't measure oil temperature.

Like biyitch is trying to get to, your not supposed to rev your car hard until the coolant and oil is up to temperature, most people don't care about there cars however if someone has a large amount of power or wants to really look after there car properly then you need one.

Again this is not the case. This unit comes with a sender which could plug in to your sump / existing oil pressure switch etc

I realise that - I just meant that people generally (if they even care) use that gauge to determine when the engine is ready to be revved (which is not a good guide).

This is an electronic gauge?!?!?! I've never seen one this cheap before. I have an oil temp, oil pressure and boost pressure Defi gauge setup which cost around £350 and that's relatively cheap.

If it is electronic rather than mechanical then it is a very good deal.

I'll double check but I'm quite sure it comes with a sender rather than having to run a feed to the gauge. Well thats because you've gone for Defi which is one of the best! :) I just installed a set of gauges in a car and the oil temp gauge cost £30 and has a sender!

No that's a more expensive one
