**MY FIRST POST AND IT IS A GOOD ONE***

Went to Durham Road Tesco (Stockton-on-Tees) and they had bottles of AutoGlym Super Resin in the boxes on the floor. I fancied it might be cheap so asked how much it was nd it came back at 93p. They also had AutoGlym Wonder wheels for 36p (the resin is £9.99 at halfords and the wonder wheels is £5.99, I just checked online and my local store). I bought the few bottles they had and they also had the leather cleaning stuff but that was 5.99. Went to tesco in Hartlepool and they have stock of both!

AutoGlym Super Resin RRP £9.99 Tesco 93p
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173303_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

AutoGlym Wonder Wheels RRP £5.99 Tesco 36p
(they only have bigger bottle on halfords.com)

CHECKED TESCO ONLINE BUT NOT LISTED. Some monkey somewhere has obviously missed off a ZERO from the prices but hey, thats life baby!

Thats debatable! Carnuba's so good, it would make you think you've been polishing your car with sand paper for all those years!

Good deal anyway, heat added.

It's a good polymide filler, but not much of a polish. It fills in the swirls on your paintwork, but doesn't correct your paint. You'd need an a polish with a more abrasive compound for that (i.e. Dodo Juice Lime Prime etc).

Regarding Carnauba as a polish, afraid not. Unless it's mixed in with a cheap polish, Carnauba wax is exactly that - a wax. It's no good for polishing your car.

Either way, a good deal for SRP. I used to use it, but got fed up of having to re-polish every four months. Machine polishing saves a lot of time and effort and for me, much better results. If you want a finish that is decent but not forever, this is it.

I really like autoglym products and have used them for years, they are reasonably priced give good results and the polish is relatively easy to apply.

If you want to improve the shine they also do a product for adding an extra sparkle to the finish.. I think they call is "extra gloss protection" or something like that (it has the autoglym lable in gold on the front), this is good for an extra shine.

If you want to really go for the car show / detailing type finish you can spend an awful lot more, products like Zymol don't come cheap.

But from my experience the autoglym colelction gets you 90% of the results at about 10% of the cost.

Hope this helps.

Paint preparation, and then polish and wax.
Take a browse through detailingworld.co.uk/forum

Was this a different store to the ones which the OP found the deal in (Stockton and Hartlepool)?

If so is it safe to assume that the deal is nationwide? If so fantastic... I nearly bought a big bottle for £10 from Wellesbourne market today but didn't, this will be a much better deal.

Cheers OP

Not Nationwide., by chance went into 2 large Tescos today and always look at car stuff still showing full price
#20
Sounds like a good deal!

IF you go into your local Halfords you can normally kit yourself out with everything you need without the need for stuff like Zymol. I use products from Autoglym and Meguiars side by side (instead of one make specifically) and find this gets the best results,

Meguiars do the best car shampoos by a country mile and after using it you would never go back to cheap tack like Turtle Wax etc, I then use Auto Glym Polishes such as Ultra Deep Shine (instead of Super Resin Polish) and finish the car with one of the several Meguiars Waxes which are alot cheaper and durable than the £30+ Wax that Autoglym offer!

Always look to take advantage of Halfords 3 for 2 offers and you could get a quality shampoo, polish and wax for about £20 that will last you ages and the quality of these products over the usual Turtle Wax products is justified when you see the finish you get!

Confirmed deal is on at TESCO Springburn Glasgow. Just picked up 5 of each... LOADS left on shelf as of 19:15
#22
Yeah I got mine from Alfreton branch - bought 3 wheel cleaners and 1 SRP.

Not an AG fan myself but at the price :)

The SRP is pretty good though to just get rid of a slight mark every now and again!
#23
This is fantastic, is it nationwide?
#24
Wonder wheels, is that not carplan stuff?
#25
Surprised there's been no mention of claying the car before polishing. Absolutely no point trying to polish, if the paintwork still has fallout (that 'gritty' feel, despite the car just having been cleaned). But, there's detailing world for that - most people around here won't honestly care too much :)

Hi

Can anyone recc something to help with a light scratch on the bonnet of a metallic car - it is a light scratch as there is no step / obstruction when I run my nail across it ? You guys seem to be the experts ...
#27

What make model and age is the car.

Cars have soft, intermediate and hard paints so that would play a part in selecting best product

merc slk 2005 ?

Always find autobrite directs stuff is good if you really want the good stuff.Their own brand is very good value for detailers when bought in 5L packs.

But this is a good price for a basic car cleaning item, cant beat it price wise.

As for claying i have seen it about and might give it a try when prices drop.Still think £15 or so for a piece of clay is a bit pricey but might try it in the summer.Until then ill stick with the autobrite own make polish and wax extra as it gives a mirror finish each time.Try it and youll laugh at turtle wax! ;-)

merc slk 2005 ?

Well Mercs are hard paints so I'd opt for a menzerna product, ideally your best using a machine polisher, dual action if you want to play it safe, however not the sort of thing your likely to go out and buy for occasional use.

Have a read of this :

http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-flex-xc3401-ceramic-show-car-kit.html

You could have a go by hand with one of these products using a cutting pad, I've had success by hand in the past on hard paints (VAG) using 203s

They seem to recommend using Super Intensive Polish and Super Finish for the Merc however sure have seen these marketed as not being suitable for hand use, not sure how accurate that is.

Maybe give these guys a ring : http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/

Mention about the Menzera range and what would be best combo for hand use
