This company trade as The Container Clearance company on Ebay. On their Oak Furniture Land site they have a permanent "sale" on. The prices never change, apart from going up - so don't necessarily be taken in by it.

Don't want to spoil the party but please be very, very, careful with this company! First of all, the "sale" that ends on Sunday is a permanent ongoing sale - I promise you it'll just roll over (I ordered stuff in the same "sale" in July this year). So no rush to place your order. The sale prices of the stuff I've had from them are pretty much on the money - no way that the RRPs are an indicator of the quality of the items. I ordered about 7 different items in an order of nearly £900, all of them had some damage, ranging from minor scuffs to large chips all over a coffee table. Their returns policy is extremely poor, from memory - they charge you £30 per box returned by collection (not entirely sure this is legal actually, but otherwise you have to return it yourself at your own cost). If you're interested, try calling up the customer support number, say you've ordered 10 items and all have arrived damaged - they won't sound the least bit surprised! Which I think says it all...

The final thing about this company that irritated the hell out of me and made me realise how untrustowrthy they are is that on reviews sites they have quite obviously posted stacks of false reviews. (Roughly the same length each time, each saying how much they recommend the company, it's quite pitiful). Have a look at http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/OakFurnitureLand_co_uk__6646606 and see what you think!

Any other questions just ask, happy to share my experience to balance out the false reviews! The furniture itself is ok, pretty solid and heavy, not flatpack.

I brought about 9 items from this firm last year when I moved house. The prices were the same last year. There were a few items that had scuffs chips and cracks. I found the returns policy ok, They redilivered a door for a chest which arrived promptly, they ewquested pictures of damage before which is understandable.

Corsica range is decent, Mantis is quite good too. You get what you pay for, I don't think I will ever need another dining table or bed after ordering from this firm.

I would recommend buying from their ebay store, name mentioned above, as they are more conscientious about feedback. Infact they requested I leave positive feedback on the condition that they resolved my complaints about the minor damaged goods.

Prices remain the same, only name of the ‘sale’ changes. Company is okay-ish – they certainly reply to queries and would accept goods back (in original packaging only). Otherwise you get what you pay for. Some of the batches are clearly damaged stock, some are good. If you want half-decent furniture for half its price that is the compromise. Apart from code/cashback PRICES ARE ALSO NEGOTIABLE. You can get further 10+% down if ordering largish (at least £1k+) batch. In my view it is much better than of relying on cashback websites.

Seems better to go for the Ebay store for better customer service - thanks for these comments most useful

Unless you buy from them on a Buy It Now you won't be protected by The Distance Selling regs and their Buy It Now prices aren't really that different to their main sites prices.

I tried several times to buy from them on Ebay several years ago and (putting it tactfully) always found it odd the way the prices suddenly used to hike up very steeply and rounded and the items almost always ended up going for around an exact same price. It's a bit hard to explain, but there was a definite pattern that always emerged. I questioned it a bit with them (maybe foolishly) and they seemingly barred me for life from ever buying from them with no communicated explanation. Of course I guessed the reason. The odd thing is that it hasn't stopped them recently starting to send me spam trying to get me to buy from them. I've now noticed that most of their stuff on Ebay now sells on a Buy It Now.

That seems to be fairly standard practice with furniture retailers on Thiefbay. I was looking at wardrobes a while back and the auction prices suddenly went up to near BIN prices as the end of the auction neared. Do you think Thiefbay care?

If I steer clear from these people, where else could I get the best furniture at resonable prices ?

Best doesnt mean diamond studded, just good quality, not flatpack.

I bought a six drawer unit and wardrobe from this company in January from the Mantis Dark Range.

The first drwaer unit arrived with a broken leg and three drawer knobs missing. I arranged and recieved another drawer unit which was fine.

The wardrobe was another problem though, they deliver the wardrobe with the bottom part inside the top part, When I recieved it there were various niggly faults like the magnetic catch at the top bent back and snapped off and the right hand door had split. I decided just to keep it as up till this point id had to take three days off work and to get a replacement id have to take another two days off - one to get it collected and one to get another delivered - they dont do both on the same day groan!! I got £50 off to sort the problems and with hindsight I shoulda changed them. Ive recently had to have the wardrobe doors planed as they had swelled so badly they were overlapping by 1 cm!! and for some reason there is a strange discoloration that appears on the doors which have to be rubbed down?!?!

When they deliver there is only one delivery person and you are expected to help get it in the property - now Im a strongish woman and I had real problems with this.

Id probably purchase again from them BUT the sale is constant so dont rush to get stuff from them!

I have recently purchased 2 items from oakfurnitureland, they arrived both damaged, Nest of tables had the legs hanging off one and the unit had the corner rounded off where it had been bashed. I sent them back which was hassle in itself, I then rebought through container clearance company without realising they were the same at the time! Derr!! Both items arrived, again one was damaged. I emailed a very strong complaint as by this time i twigged it was the same. They did give me quite a large discount. I then left bad feedback on ebay and they rang me again and gave me a free solid oak side table if i changed my feedback, which I did. This arrived without any bolts to hold the legs together! but were posted straight away! Although they are one in the same( not long distance cousins as the guy on the phone told me) I would not buy from akfurnitureland website again as they couldnt give two hoots, but because they are very concerned with there feedback on ebay I would buy on there again.... Yes alot of it was damaged in one way or another, they did offer to repair it but dont tend to replace, but if its minor and they will give more money off then why not!

Buy now on fleabay is a right rip off for many types of furniture as they are all bidding their own stuff up. I've monitored a few sellers (leather chairs) for a few months and I can spot them like clockwork.

if anyone is buying quidco have 9% cashback too- may need to add it to title

Just out of interest, where in the world is this furniture made? I'll bet it is somewhere far far away;-)

http://www.homefurnitureland.co.uk/

I have bought stuff off them in the past. Good (Free to most places) delivery prices too (we're in Scotland and it was only £20 extra).

Good communications and I found the staff to be helpful. I was very impressed with the quality of the furniture too. - definitely worth considering
