yeah I reserved the last black
I've bought one, and think it's decent for the price. I've been told that these were designed for a hub/amp fatboy sells but the speaker project has been cancelled shortly. So that's why there is no info at all.

I believe there was a few more whites left. (but no black ones)
don't think old but reckon they were part of a system believe the manufacturer went bust having talked to seller
These must be very old... I couldn't find anything about them anywhere on web.

Hi All,

Jake here from AV Bristol.

Despite we have not placed this offer directly for the general public I think it only fair to offer an apology in person for the "Sonosgate" incident that has ensued.

For anyone that has any doubts and would like an immediate refund please please contact us (via email) as we have no wish to hold customers hard earned money for no reason, even if you wish to have a refund but keep the possibility of keeping your order in the hope our Negotiation with Sonos is successful this is really no problem for us.

I understand that some of you are very disappointed and we are trying our best to resolve this problem and hopefully fulfil orders. We are a small Family run establishment with Dad, Mum, Son and a couple of members of close staff, we are not curry's therefore we do not have millions of pounds to be perfect, however our number one aim is customer satisfaction and we are here to sell you what you need and not just a box.

I would again like to apologise and if anyone would like to discuss this with me in person please feel free and I will be happy to talk further.

Please have a nice evening and weekend.

Kind Regards

Thats a lot of orders - Sonos would be daft to turn these down - even if they decide not to include the bridge - alot of people that would not have bought without the discount and who may then subsequently buy other Sonos products after - good publicity for all !
Just received email :( fingers crossed

Hi,

I hope all our customers had a lovely Christmas and are all looking forward to the New Year?

We, like we do every year, placed a 25% sale for one day only (boxing day) to our newsletter customers only, this sale excluded many Brands including Sonos (see below newsletter attachment).

One of these customers thought it was a good idea to place the sale in the public domain online with http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/avbristol.co.uk but failed to mention our T&C which excluded the Sonos brand along with others etc ...

The result has been nearly 900 hundred orders for Sonos plus orders for other excluded brands, some of you have even thought that a free bridge will be included at a hugely discounted price.

It would be a shame to “turn away” such business and to disappoint many customers so we are currently in the process of contacting our suppliers to see if we can obtain a better price and to check that we can fulfil orders.

It may take a couple of days to resolve, if you wish for an immediate refund this is no problem whatsoever please reply and we will process this today.

If you are happy to wait to see how this is resolved please advise and we will contact you as soon as we possibly can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Kind Regards,

I appreciate that in some ways isn't your company's fault but equally your company's payment system shouldn't have allowed the code to work when all 900 customers entered it....like I'm sure most of the customers we thought that this must be too good to be true but then when entering the code and it worked ( expecting it not to) then we thought it must be right!!!! So I do sympathise with your small run business however maybe you need to look at your payment system...because this code should not have gone through like other websites.....which has probably happened to a lot of us then you wouldn't gave this problem.

We would like to know ASAP what is happening as we would like to hold off but equally we want to get on with purchasing this somewhere else if we are not getting anything.....or it will take weeks to come

So..We thought a free bridge would be included at a hugely discounted price? Maybe we thought that because their home page stated it to be the case. Anyway, the free bridges are honoured by Sonos as part of their promotion aren't they? Shouldn't cost AVBristol a penny.

It would indeed be a shame for them to turn down that sort of business. I suppose they want us all to pay full price for the Sonos..and the bridge..and stay on their mailing list?!!..

Another case of a retailer biting off more than they can chew?..

Update: Just got home and read the e-mail on my PC with the extract from the 'Sale e-mail'. To be fair to AVBristol, it does clearly state that Sonos products are excluded from the sale. Obviously those of us just using the discount code weren't aware of this. Still, I would have thought that a discount code wouldn't have worked with excluded brands and it would have stopped us using it at the checkout. Ah well. Can't really blame them for being a bit teed off ;)

Why why why is this not wire free ?
The Sonos® Play:1 is a wireless audio system that uses your WiFi network to transmit audio to high-quality portable speakers. The Santa Barbara-based company has been producing audio components since 2002, and their new Play:1 demonstrates their experience in the industry. The Play:1 is very compact at only 6.36 by 4.69 inches, but it produces a refined but powerful signal.

The only wire you need is the power cable!

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your order placed with us online.

Due to the large success of our Boxing Day Sales we no longer have Roth Oli 10’s that you ordered and nor can we order any more from our suppliers.

We are happy to offer you the Roth Oli 20 speakers for £56.25 (£12.00 extra payment) for a larger and better speaker.

You may however want to consider the Wharfedale Crystal range which is a much better speaker and value for money or any of our other bookshelf speakers we have on offer and yes we will be happy to extend the 25% discount.

Any advice what should I choose?

I went for the 20s from the off. They are a bit larger and heavier, if that matters to you, but they put out a deeper bass in return. It all depends on what you need the speakers for.

You won't get them at this price anywhere else. If you really want smaller units at a similar price, then head down to Richer Sounds.

If you are willing to up your budget, the Diamond 10s or 10.1s are also a decent buy.

any reviews? can't find anything on it
there's one here: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/hi-fi-and-audio/hi-fi-and-av-speakers/audica-cs-1-98519/review
and a few people mention it on avforum. I got it based on the AVforum reviews...

Spotted that on too but are you sure they're the same ones?

Reviewer refers to them as 'these speakers' plural. this is a sound bar

The review is for the whole set which includes a subwoofer and and rear speakers. But I think it is the same speaker used for centre and fronts in the review as here.
http://www.audica.co.uk/cssystem1%20lcr.html

Is the company website, got a few different pics on there. No Sub, or amplifier with this one.

Got to say the Satellite speakers in this range look cool! Not sure how they sound though :)

So what size (Watt) speakers could you plug into this?
If you stuck in some 100W's would it do damage?

100W speakers wouldn't damage a 28W amp and would be fine, if somewhat underused. However using "big" speakers on "small" amps is not the best solution and might affect overall performance. It's a bit like using a 30 ton truck to transport your groceries from the shops. Depends how efficient the speakers units are and, as I siad earlier, how much you value sound perfection.
I'd recommend some 40W speakers as the best solution, and nothing less than 28W obviously.

I have the Fatman i-tube. Similar hybrid design, and I bought it last year for similar price. Yes OK I know its only the pre-amp that is valve powered, but its a classy look and a real conversation piece. If you are old enough to be nostalgic about valve amps then your ears don't work well enough to notice the sound quality anyway.
Holy Smokes!

Did anyone notice they are using an EM84 for the level meter!

How Cool is that !!!

Hmmm, I'd be interested in the technical details of the 'Hybrid Valve Design'.

I'd assume solid state output stage, maybe a Tripath Class D switching amp.

lol are you serious?!

Yes, I'm an engineer and I'm interested in knowing what I'm buying. I realise others may not share my fascination... :)

Equate it to knowing about the engine in a car you're interested in buying.

Just bought a pair of these from AV Bristol, great service, true they are not the best speakers in the world but they are good value for the money. I wouldnt attach them to a good setup but they are more than adequete for "casual" listening, I have a sonos connected and they are fine (with the bass turned up, rather tinny without doing that!). Regarding the What Hi Fi review, that was based on a price in excess of £250 and against speakers of a similar price point, I am sure it it wouldnt have been so poor at £99! (there are plenty of other speakers getting 3 stars).
these JAMO's are very good speakers for £249.99 on a low budget & includes free cables. My brother bought them & it sounds very good. even without a sub.

they got a terrible review on what hi-fi website.... enough said.

Totally unfounded statement, you have no proof of this, and by the by, most top end equipments is manufactured in china or japan, and you have no idea what parts they use, you dont work for them, and from you statement, you have never even listened to these speakers.

What little you know! I have worked with James Roth and he has cloth ears! He would probably admit that himself. He's a marketeer, not an engineer.

Buy them because they look cool.
Buy them because they are cheap.
But this isn't hi-fi, there is plenty of stuff out there that sounds so much better, even at this price point!
canada16
They are not AMAZING!! If they were they would be 700.00 but come on, they are a good name for budget speakers, and 99.00 + free next day delivery and 10.00 voucher as well,

These have 2 speakers instead of one, you will get better base response.

Wow... amazing insight there, yeah there are two SPEAKERS. Because they're a PAIR of STEREO speakers!
But what you probably meant to say was that they have DRIVERS (those little circle things on the front...!) and I have no idea what the BASE's response has to do with anything here... but I'll also have to assume you meant BASS (see, no 'e'!) and no, more DRIVERS don't mean more 'base response' and if you think it does you really shouldn't be commenting on anything sound related...

And amazing speakers don't have to cost anywhere near £700. Anyone that picked up a pair of Tannoy F series floorstanders from Richer's for a steal (I got the F4 customs a few years back for £119!) will know this...

Sorry to be thick but I don't really know anything about speakers...I spotted on AVforumis hat ohitsaidwalker wants to use them as rears on a 5.1; can these really be used as bookshelf speakers on their own? What sort of amp would I need to be looking at as a minimum? Thanks
Don't waste your money on these, you can pick up bargain second hand speakers easily. I got some Focal JM Lab 705 S for £30 on Ebay with a minor cosmetic ding (not quite on a par with my main JM Lab speakers, but they cost £1500... they do however use the same drivers as in their studio monitors which are £800) a TEAC mini system and sub on freecycle. If you aint got time to hunt down a bargain, just pick up some Wharfedales or something. These are nothing.

9 out of 10 people on this site wouldn't know where to start in terms of looking for a £100 bargain on ebay. I own the Audica AVS1 system that I use in my kitchen and for the size it's amazing. Plus it looks great. I would say that these speakers would be fine for anyone with a small living room or for use in the bedroom.

If you need speakers in the living room then buy these and some second hand stands from someone in your area from ebay (not as difficult to buy stands on ebay because it's all about the looks)

If you aint got time to hunt down a bargain, just pick up some Wharfedales or something. These are nothing.
can i use this as an add on speakers for Onkyo HTS 3305 to make it 7.1? Any suggestions welcome. thanks.
