Many people either post gameplay videos to YouTube or live stream their gameplay to sites like Twitch.tv and hitbox.tv. If enough people watch your videos / live stream, you can make quite a bit of money from ad revenue and / or donations from viewers.

pixmania have a pci-e one for £74 if you're in the market for it, better product imo, but less easy to set up as it's not usb like the op's deal.

I personally wouldn't use one but I'm glad people do. If it hadn't of been for these and going on YouTube I would still be try to finish some of the Lego games ;)

I'm not to sure I think like the consoles there may be some restrictions put it place but you can pick up cheaper ones for TV set top box connection a that work in the same way so I would of thought the answer would be yes in short. but of course its cheaper to get one for that kind of thing.

not sure if sky boxes have hdcp protection but you could use a hdcp stripper which would allow you to use this to record a sky box
