Can't you get AVG Free?? :?
#3
I'm running AVG v9 .... and yep ... it's free

Ive been a very happy AVG user for years, but sadly the latest offerings use my system resources like norton with ADHD. To the point my system runs as slow as a dx2 66 running a spectrum emulator.

now running avast

Yep, avast! runs great, had a few problems with AVG, had to uninstall it in the end.

I now have a 1 year 3 user AVG (£1.99 zavvi) previously I used the free version, and I haven't noticed any difference other than not having to update and scan manually, it does it all for you.

Bought this last month, just uninstalled it cos it slowed everything up too much.Used free version for years which was excellent. Now using Avast free.

Even the free version of AVG 9 is wildly overpriced.
Avoid this bloat-ware like the plague !

Microsoft's free Security Essentials seems much better than any of the free or even paid AV software around: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Runs quietly in the background and I don't notice it at all.

Another good antivirus software is Panda, especially if you're a developer using Visual Studio as it doesn't reduce that to a crawl like McAfee.

I lol hard at all these long term users saying AVG has been great. The number of threads in misc daily by people with viruses running AVG suggest you are deluded.

Put a proper AV on your PC and then see how many trojans you have :-D
