Avg, ..less clogging than Norton our very own Maurice Moss claimed.
Happy with the free version, though at this price well worth it for the upgrade.

why not just download the free version?

It has a lot more useful tools than the free version, particularly root virus protection.

I dont know whats up with avg recently, its getting as bad as norton/mcaffee.

I installed a brand new hard drive in laptop, installed windows (ok, vista i know i know), installed firefox and latest free avg.

but something was constantly using 95% of my cpu, it was avgs resident sheild, had to turn the bleeder of quick. The older version was fine.
#6
Avg now is a pile of crap, used to be ok at one time but it hogs more cpu than the new norton do
#7
Hmmm...I'm very tempted to purchase this! I have £6 worth of Zavvi vouchers, but I have McAfee for free because I'm with O2 broadband...thing is though, I always seem to get troubles with McAfee...
#8
why bother ? just use the M/S security essentials sw ... it's free

Agreed - and it's fast. Faster than Avast, which I installed when AVG started hogging my CPU as mentioned by other people.
#10
Don't get any AVG resource hogging, though only using the free version. Never had any problems, and always update to most recent version.

For less than £3, this seems a great deal, heat added.

That would be my advice, too.

yeah recent versions have been a bit buggy. I ve moved to Avast Free which appears to be doing the job

I love AVG Internet Security - had it installed last 2 years, found it works well and no PC problems...this is great price.

Any version (at least v8+ anyway) bought of AVG will allow you to upgrade for free to latest version throughout your subscription time - you are buying the length of subs, not the version (unlike Norton).

Sooo....you can buy v9 3 user 2 year off ebay for £10 delivered. Either share it with 2 other PCs, or should be able to use it concurrently yourself, ie 6 years for £10!

any MS security products tend to be specifically targeted by virus writers and hackers. Only time will tell whether this will be the case.

Me too!

So far it has been ace. Don't forget that you used to have to pay for this under the Onecare brand name, which has been discontinued mainly because they couldn't get a decent foothold into the established 'pay for' market

nortons is terrible.....i used the nortons 360 trial and uninstalled as it slowed down my intel9550 quad pc with 8gb ddr2 mem (now have a faster pc but still wouldnt touch it)....as usuall uninstalling it was a mare....resorted to reinstall of windows as i had only few hours earlier installed win 7, so opted for a clean install...nortons and mcaffee are viruses
