It all depends on where their premiums start. 10% off £500 when their rivals are at £300 is not such a good deal.

Axa are the worst insurance company EVER in my opinion.
i cannot wait to change to another company in February.
i had a non-fault accident in 2014 and the guy who hit me OBVIOUSLY said it was my fault!!
Axa were totally useless and never bothered to let me know anything unless i called them.
they even sent me the questions directly from the third parties solicitors and expected me to liase with them so they didn't have to !
i made a formal complaint and received £50 because they admitted they hadn't done anything to help me even tho it was clearly a non-fault accident.
it took 15 months to get sorted, 1 day before i was due to attend court.
honestly..... completely useless

pretty standard practice unfortunately bit like most settling on 50/50 blame saves them time and money

Quotes from their FAQs:

"First you must have a dashcam (in-car camera recorder) permanently fitted in your car to record video of the road ahead on every journey."

"We’d prefer your dashcam to be fitted professionally, but we will offer a dashcam discount if you have correctly installed your dashcam yourself, providing it records video of the road ahead on every journey."

"No, we don’t accept mobile phones as dashcams."

"You must where possible send us video footage on request."

I've been with admiral for years and they are brilliant. in ten years I've made three claims. One I was at fault and another where I wasn't and a third it was a named driver on my policy. All occasions they've been really good and nearly always the cheapest when it comes to renewal time. I can't fault them really

Dashcam discount isn't worth the risk IMHO, same as the minor discount on home insurance companies give for your saying you have an alarm fitted. If it isn't on at the time of an incident then the insurers are well within their rights to refuse to pay out.

Not worth the comparatively small savings they offer. Just gives insurers more wiggle room and as I learnt from a recent non-fault claim through admiral, they are already a bunch of useless, lazy, feckless shower of ****

Having similar problems after my car being hit while parked at work. Luckily the person came and found me..so should be 100% non fault...
Im having to chase everything up and every phone call to them means 40mins plus on hold before you actually talk to someone..

So far im not impressed...

make sure you call them every few days. i called them once and they said "oh! good job you called as we have an email sent from the third parties insurance that was marked urgent" i asked when it was sent to them snd she replied "3 days ago" !!!
honestly if i hadn't have called them every few days i swear it still wouldn't be sorted now.
and another thing, they swore they sent ne 4 letters but i never received 1 ?
they checked my address every time but still no letters ? big liars in my opinion ?
and because i didn't receive any letters from them i almost lost my personalised registration plate my late farther brought for me due to them written my car off and giving me 10 days to confirm in writing i wanted to keep the plate.
as soon as my vehicle was written off and i was payed out, by law my playe belonged to my insurance company ? so i had to get a letter from them along with an engineers report that they had no interest in tge plate ?
needed to forward these to the DVLA.
as there was a deadline after the car was written off i almost lost it due to their incompetence !!
i had the brains luckily to tell them to email me the documents, but believe it or not, even then they messed up and missed my registration number from the form !
complete waste of time idiots honestly.

Forgot to add to my description that Admiral also lied to me repeatedly, confirmed by the policeman handling the hit and run case.

I had been with Admiral for 4 years and had no problems with 1 non-fault claim. I went with Axa after Admiral tried to charge me a ridiculous renewal price. I told them about a speed awareness course and Admirals premium went up even more! Confirmed with Axa if the price increases if you've taken a course and they didn't care about it which was a bonus.


Also £40.25 topcashback with Axa :)

Glad to hear your claim went smoothly, I'll wager you didn't suffer a total loss and be stranded with your family somewhere remote with the guy on the phone saying "that's your problem" otherwise you'd likely be saying something very different, based on my experience.

They are the only insurer I know of who load up the premium after a SAC which is against the guidelines that say it should have no impact and shouldn't need to tell the insurers. It gives a little insight into Admiral and their underhanded practices.

Funnily enough i left Admiral after years of being with them for the same reason...

They wanted to know the ins and outs of my speed awareness course which i had no info on...let alone remember the date i took it!

Also admiral want to know about every conceivable optional extra on the car even though they are all factory fitted.
Axa said aslong as factory fitted then its fine.

Its a minefield
