erm in b & q - big notice in entrance - i also asked at till thought you needed a card but cashier said you will still get 10% off - i think they have ran out of cards
#2
This is a good deal at the moment they have got good sale on bathrooms and 15% off other gear. I just bought a bath and a sink gutted you never posted this before. Hot vote anyway.
#3
only found out about it this evening -
#4
Moved to deals as this is not a voucher in and of itself... :) Thanks.
#5
thanks emma - wasnt sure where to put it
#6
I think that this is your local b&q bending the rules a little bit as there has been no mention of this to the staff and we usually find out a couple of weeks before hand.
Also when they have an 'extra 15%' deal you wouldnt get the oap discount on top as only one or the other would apply so you havn't missed out on anything.
#7
Thanks for this . Need quite alot from there at the mo. HOT from me :).

magicdamo i do not think it is just a local thing - store had a big ad campaign going on
tried ringing just now to confirm but all closed

i will contact them in morning to confirm and update post

also i disagree with you regarding the present sale they have on i.e 15%

i would assume that over 60s discount card would still be allowed - bit naughty of them - i will check that out as well
#9
is your local store a supercentre or a warehouse?
#10
Sorry guys, someone has got the wrong end of the stick here. The diamond club card discount has not been extended to anyone below 60 years of age. There is a new trade reward scheme which pays 5% back in rebates but there are no plans to extend the 10% offer.

B&Q Warehouse

shall keep you posted tomorrow

teh diamond card cant be used in conjunction with any other discount.whichis why it is extra 15% discount and not extra 15% sale.
#13
The sale on now is 15% off they cannot change 1000000 prices in store on a Wednesday to just 10% off it don't make sense. You will get a extra 10% on top of the 15% sale =25% off on a wednesday
#14
When they had a bathroom sale a while back my Mum wasnt allowed the extra discount and she is definately over 60 with a discount card and went down on a wednesday. I think there is something in T and C that says you cant have it both ways
#15
they dont change the prices for an extra 15% event they have a swipe card which is put through the till during the transaction as the oap 10% discount is also a swipe card it makes it impossible for them both to be applied.not trying to spoil your evening but unless the store manager is in a good mood you will never get both discounts.
If however there was a half price sale then the 10% discount would be able to be used as it wouldnt be in conjunction with any other discount.
#16
regards the over 60s discount - that bloody mean of them - emailed head office to air my views - might get a voucher off them!!

Afraid you're mistaken...
I bought a Bosch lawnmower on Wednesday - the 15% discount was included in the price (as it is in the price of all other 15% off products during the current sale) and the OAP 10% off was also deducted at the till.

We were told by a woman in the shop that both discounts would not work together (as you say) but happily she was wrong, as are you.
#18
good on you gobofraggle -
#19
Great 10% off - still very expensive.
#20
the two discounts thing depends on how the first discount is applied. if the EPOS is adjusted so that when the till operator scans the barcode the discounted price appears then you will get the extra discount. but if the till operator has to scan a code to adjust the price then you won't. the till systems will not allow 2 discounts. its the same with the staff discount cards. the staff can't use their crew cards to obtin discount on a discounted item if the discounted price isn't on the EPOS
#21
I think the OP's offer may just be that one store...

We always get the GF's dad to buy stuff with discount for us... in their local store (Sheffield) it is only Wednesdays that they can get 10% off... in our local store (Stafford) its any day...

When we asked in Sheffield why Stafford do 10% off any day, they virtually said we were lying and no stores do that...

This is exactly what I was told by staff this week when I asked if the 10% over 60s card could be used with the 15% off.

If the discount comes off the item when it is scanned then you CAN use the 10% off aswell.

I used my mum to get an extra 10% off the laminate flooring. Saved nearly £20 plus I got the 15% off. Bargain.

Anyone know if this 10% off (and indeed the over 60's 10% off) works with fitted bathrooms and kitchens.

I would imagine you might get another 10% off your quote for the kitchen units but not the labour.

I just got a quote for units, appliances and full fitting of £9000 (of which £4500 odd was for labour)

Anyone know what might happen?
#24
you are legible for the discount on kitchens & bathroos as you are buying them from b & q

when you buy kitchens from b&q homebase etc all they do is get sub contractors to fit
kitchen

i dont think discount would be available on the labour - but still have a haggle what they are charging - i reckon they put a third on what they actually pay contractor
#25
The 10% is just for the over 60's only and hasn't been extended in anyway.
With regard to the 15% offer, currently on a diamond card, can be used in conjunction with it. (Not to sure about kitchens)
All items that are in the 15% offer go through the till at the 15% off price. So a discount card can be applied to the transaction.

In regard to the sale B&Q had at the beginning of the year, you had to spend over £300 to get a discount on the items, and were put through on a discount card. So a discount could only be applied once.

As a far as when the card can be used, some stores flex the rules.
#26
this thread should be removed as it is mis leading. my other half works on pricing in b&q in doncaster and can guarantee the 10% discount has not been extended to everybody
#27
Just as a matter of interest for any of you oldies out there B & Q now do the 10% over 60's discount 7 days a week. This, I assume, is to compete with Focus who started doing this a couple of weeks ago.:-D
#28
the diamond card cannot be used on any thing that has been placed as a special order so anything that is in the bathroom and kitchen price guide cannot be discounted by an extra 10 %, although untill the 3rd of april every thing in the brocheres have one third off and then an extra 15% off any way bringing most things down to just over half price. the bathroom suites will have that offer extended untill the 17th april as well. so that is a good deal in itself.

the 15% of the lawnmower wasn't an EXTRA 15% discount off which is what i was saying wouldn't work. as i said when there is a 15/20/50% SALE you can use your oap discount as it is going through the till at the sale price.

again this is not true the 10% diamond discount only applies on a wednesday but some stores may allow you to use the discount anyday, but it is very much upto the individual store.

Just been to B&Q in St Neots - absolutely nothing mentioned anywhere about this.
