There is a big sale on today in the B&Q warehouse Blackpool, think it's countrywide

It was a sale of centre lights, floor lights and table lights. We got a few £60 / £50 ones reduced to £10

worth a look if you need some lights

Doesn't seem to be online though

I managed to get some excellent lamps since yesterday afternoon - there are plenty at Ilford, Romford, and Beckton. Moved into a new home and I have a lamp for every corner now ... the expensive lights seem to be moving fast but there seems plenty of choice.

Voted Hot - excellent bargains - picked up 10 stainless steel solar lamps (no wiring required) for £19.98 and mini halogen downlights (suitable for bathroom) from £27 to £4

Was that Hedge End saintscouple?
We have the KW meter thing installed at home to check on power consumption. Those mini halogens in our bathroom are horrific for eating up your electricity. Put me off buying them to be honest, but they are nice and bright.

Nope, Hedge End didn't have the Solar Lights, nor Portswood. We find that although Hedge End and Nursling are bigger stores the Eastleigh store seems to have better availablity for bargains.
Saying that Portswood have a twin pack of flood lights with pirs for only £9.98 in the clearance isle - these are manager clearance items and not nationwide.

Maybe you can help me out with the halogen downlights - on the box it says a cutting hole diameter of 48mm, though the instructions say a 43mm holesaw required?
I'm guessing you use a 43mm holesaw and then file to ensure a snug fit - though 43mm are difficult to comeby and screwfix do a cheap 44mm - do you reakon this would be ok? Seeing as Screwfix are cheaper and they have a trade counter in Millbrook it would cheaper just to collect one from there.

I wouldnt want to get it wrong. I didnt have to put mine in.
But, its 1mm, I cant see that being a problem, especially if it says 48mm on the box.
I would buy the 44, and then try putting a hole into a bit of wood that you dont want, just to see if it will work.

Always better to have a small hole to ensure a tight fit:p

lol, thanks guys, of course i will now have to consider the depth, as it will only lead to disapointment if i drill to short of the mark :p

Job Done - Easy
Ended up buying a multi-hole saw which included the arbour for less than £8 - includes about 8 different sizes, nearest being a 45mm one - which fitted perfectly snug - no need for filing.
The only other product i had to buy was rapid foam filler for the exsisting hole - this is an excellent product - sanded down and painted within the hour.

Though now the OH has bought lights for all the other upstair rooms for me to install :x

I think it's worth looking at some of the halogen spot lights.
I saw the standard white 3 halogen spot light fittings for £1 at my local store in Notts. Now okay they're ******, but you get 3 x 50W halogen bulbs with them too!
So just use the bulbs and you've got a bargin!
Just a thought...
