I am not sure!

The 3 for £10 is usually on 60l bags. Good by if you want this but I have been advised to avoid multi-purpose as it is said to be a jack of all trades but master of none. Not trying to be snobby here but if you are going to the effort of trying to grown things then maybe getting the right type of compost is more important than the quantity?

Just been reading Which magazine which arrived in post today - and B&Q multi came out tops.

B&Q Multipurpose Compost (6p a litre)

Whether you’ve bought a tray of seedlings or plugs from the garden centre or raised them yourself, they need potting on in order to develop a good root system and some top growth before they’re ready to plant out in the garden. In our young plants trial we found huge differences between the composts on test but B&Q Multipurpose Compost performed consistently well. This peat-based compost produced outstanding quality antirrhinums and cabbages and was also the cheapest brand on test.

Horse for courses as regards the plants - I was advised at Gardener's World Live last year by Alys Fowler not to use multi purpose but then certain plants will be ok with the multi purpose nature of this. Personally I would avoid due to the peat content in any case, but it is probably that which is making this work so well in the Which? tests.

As I said before, not a bad price anyway.

They are doing 20 litre bags for a quid at the mo which is a Hell of a lot easier to move around than one bag of 125 litres, cheaper too.

Here it is.

I know but this works out cheaper.

Seven pounds will buy you 140 litres using the 20 litre bags.
As I said, easier to carry and cheaper too. :?
