I just bought this SatNav new for GBP 123 from some place that you can find by googling. Honestly, for a tenner, I'm happy to have gotten it new. I've used it for a week now and am quite happy, especially as it does NOT and WILL NOT require a subscription to some overpriced 'live' service as virtually all new GPS units do. The UI is good, but not as good as the Magellan unit which I bought in the USA for half as much money ($99) (for usa use) 5 years ago!

I have a 5870 at the moment and I am selling it to buy 2 of these. Cheers for the heads up OP, slightly cheaper than elsewhere I looked.

I know someone who just sold there 5870 for two of these in sli and is loving it! But he did say it does get quite toasty in his case but the fps etc are much higher than with only a 5870.

I have a 4850, and have done so for over half a year. Previously had an Nvidia (8800), then a few ATI cards before that, Nvidia before, all the way back to Voodoo.I will upgrade my card soon (I tried a 5750, but that wasn't backwards compatible with 1.1 PCIe motherboards), but rest assured I will be getting an nVidia card. ATI cards may be great in terms of performance/price, but they're just pathetic when it comes to drivers, and despite the review websites, I'm convinced that they don't render many games as well as nvidia cards do (maybe there's some sort of conspiracy going on? I.e. nvidia are bribing, or are in cahoots with, the bigger developers). The recent 10.8 Catalyst release for example came with a ton of problems, in fact I couldn't even install them on my PC until I tried many different methods (including having to boot into safemode to use DriverSweeper - which is a common recommendation/utility on my AMD forums). Research this and I find there's tons of people with all kinds of difficulties with various catalyst packages, even on AMD forums you have moderators and expert users saying they won't bother using version X.X because it's known to have problems.I realise everyone has their percentage of problems, even Intel in the CPU market, and all forums will be filled with people with problems, but from my experience it seems that ATI seem to have a much higher percentage of problems. Had zero trouble from the nvidia cards I had, yet with the various problems on the ATI cards I found no shortage of people with the same problems.Hopefully they'll improve this in the future, but for now I still think they're some way behind nvidia in the functionality stakes, even if their cards are better for performance/price.

That is your opinions, unless you care to back it up with facts.
Personally myself over the last 15 years, I have 26 graphics cards I can remember in several PC's.
15 ATI, 9 Nvidia and 2 other, I have not had a single ATI fail or give me problems. But I have had to RMA 3 Nvidia cards.

And to people who try to bring drivers and the length of time the cards been out into the discussion, after about the first month, both manufaturers drivers (Catalyst/Forceware)will have improvements at roughly the same rate.

i have a decent pc but always makes me laugh that a decent graphics card is still so expensive that it costs as much a flipping games console...youd think they be cheaper by now lol

I agree with you, i almost purchased a ati 5870 the other day, than realised that the ps3 320GB with motion pack cost less.

However PC graphics is always cutting edge, which takes lot of investments in RnD and stuff,

further more the counsole manfactorers make money from software too, so at time they take a hit on ther hardware. if you also consider the ps3 graphics (best of the 3) is the nvidia 7900GTX which is now not a very good card in terns of pc graphics, also the games on pc look much better and cutting edge so to speak, than the same version of the console version, now some may say i am wrong, its its what i belive.

contrast ratio only 350:1....... is that right ?
Surely not on a DLP projector - they are usually much better than that.

I installed a HD600x for a client recently and that is very good and only £500. Not sure how much better this one is but Optoma are recommended by me :) 3D ready too but in the small print it says that does not work with sky 3D or blu-rays so I'm not sure what type of 3D it does offer.

Wouldn't you need two of them or two lenses in it to do stereoscopic projection and achieve a 3d effect?
isn this the website that displays all prices ex-vat and delivers from hongkong ?

This seems a great price for 1080p resolution projector.

It certainly does. I'm still ploughing on with my 720p Panasonic PTAE500 which I originally bought for the bargain price of £1200.

If the bulb ever goes it probably won't be worth the cost of replacement :(

Done some reading up on b4u. Looks like they're a foreign company who'll ship from abroad. Many people have had real problems getting their items delivered, and they seem to be very dodgey/hit and miss when it comes to giving you what you ordered. Alot of complaints about not even being able to track items on the website, many people have had to call up to get a DHL tracking number which is supposed to be emailed.

Would definitely not deal with them.
Who are b4u direct? Are they reliable?

Quite a few good component prices on there, but the website seems very, very basic.

I got this one:

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5020944/art/pixmania/radeon-hd-5830-1-gb-gddr5.html

£140.50 delivered.

And was pleasantly surprised that it's actually a Sapphire. At least that's what all the packaging suggests. It's weird because Pixmania have a listing for the Sapphire for £100 more.

I did see Power On but I figured Pixmania was a more reputable company. I've no experience with Power On but have heard about Pixmania before.
Not sure if they have stock, but £139 for a Hd 5830 incl delivery

Typical... order cancelled. Don't know what to do now for a graphics card.
I ordered one yesterday after seeing it mentioned in a different thread. I got an order confirmation but just now I saw that the item no longer exists on their website. I wonder if I'll get it.
I've been looking for a bargain to replace my aging ATI Radeon 4850. Thought I'd risk it as it's an unbeatable price. Website itself has got some pretty rotten reviews though... thanks for posting the deal :o)

Reliable website?

Not from what I've read.

Ordered from them last year - items took 5 days to turn up due to "Courier Error" (aka they forgot to dispatch them) but I got what I paid for so I can't complain.

If you're not using it to play HD MKVs, why would you need such a massive hard drive?

Also, if you've got a tv with HDMI and you play downloaded content, why the hell would you download SD stuff?

Stupid machine. Cold.
MKV is very important as its the Blu-ray HD format, and impossible to stream through PS3.

I have a wired connection and it stutters when I try play a highbit rate 1080p file.

But play AVCHD 1080p and all is ok.

I would not buy anything that did not have MKV, thats why I am trying to get rid of the PS3 for a new LG390 as that will stream MKV
Grimulus;8788119
Fair enough

Didnt vote hot or cold BTW, its not a bad price but it can be had for cheaper by a couple of quid
thanks anyway

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?cpu=Radeon+HD+5870

1) Graphics Cards depreciate faster than any other component in a PC including the CPU

£300 ATi 5870 BNIB Scoring 2603 costing £300 (11.5p/benchmark point)
vs.
£70 ATi 4870 2nd hand Scoring 1742 (4p/benchmark point)

2) Where does this make sense?

So this, in comparison is just under three times more expensive benchmark wise for the sake of a 50% increase in performance.

Spending over £100-£150 on a graphics card is quite insane, given todays economy... very insane.

If your going to compare gaming graphics cards, at least use a PROPER benchmarking tool. PassMark is old and no serious gamer would look at it for reference.

I've used B4UD in the past - a bit slow to deliver but I got my item in the end.
Good price (cheaper than elsewhere where in stock)!

However, Amazon have it cheaper (£267), although it's listed as 'temporary out of stock', so you can still order but not sure when they'll deliver.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-HD5870-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/dp/B0031HAVSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271006083&sr=8-1
the 5870 is a nice card but its really expensive i think the 5850 is a better price to performance ratio even then i will only pay under £200 for a card

still man i do want a 5850 just cant afford one
They might be in France like them other Monkeys.

Not a bad price for this although this model has been under £200 (I paid £187 for mine last year) I'd highly recommend this printer. The current model (PX810FW) has includes duplex functionality as standard which is only optional on the old model.

Haven't gotten it out of the box yet so it's nice to hear a recommendation from a 'punter'
