Noticed a few Lloyds Pharmacy's in the Erdington area when I was doing my mystery shopping had these DVD's reduced from £12.99 to £2.50, I got the two missing from my son's collection but there were quite a few left in the Stockland Green one. I should imagine that its nationwide as Lloyds have got a 4million quid sale on at the minute. Loads of other toys reduced Girls musical keyboard was £9 now £4.50, Disney stationery set was £3 now 50p. Pantane shampoo and conditioner was £2.67 now 82p, Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 was £2.69 now £1. Worth having a look around if there's one by you. I have a picture of the dvds and receipt but I don't know how to upload.

There was a article in the news a few months ago saying the baby einstein was making children learn less and that disney in America had refunded all the money paid for DVD's ect. Maybe why they are so cheap.

How can they possibly make kids learn less? And how can that be proven anyway?

My 10 month old loves these. He watches one just before bed so he winds down.
I doubt they make much difference to a childs knowledge but they do give the parents peace for 20 mins to tidy up or whatever.

Tsk. Moderation is key. My daughter loved these vids. She also loved books, talking, playing with musical keyboards, alphabet flashcards and getting carried around the room upside-down. She's turned out fine. We need to stop worrying about parenting and learn to enjoy it. That's what they'll remember.

I think these are ok in moderation but they are no substitute for parent interaction, and certainly do not add ANY value to your child's developmental experience, especially just before bed time and at such an early age - If this keeps your kids quiet and 'winds them down' IMO that is not a good thing and no substitute for a bath and story before bedtime..

LOL was shocked when a six year old friend of my daughters came for tea recently and said she was bored within ten minutes. When asked what she played with she said a Nintendo DS. When asked what toys she played with she couldn't mention one item!

I wonder if she was influenced by stuff like this?

Not negative but IMO this was just a craze that has been and gone a number of years now - on it's last legs.
