Oh dear dosent seem to offer much head support
#2
good price, so hot deal, but personally I wouldn't touch a Bay-Start car seat with your barge pole.
#3
Only buy this if you know how to fit a car seat properly, and know what to check for. Bought one before I knew about these things - and like DTR would not touch with a barge pole - 2 replacements in 2 months before I insisted on a refund.

Child's safety only worth 20 quid?
I'd rather go without food for a couple of weeks and save the money to get a decent one.
It's this price for a reason.
I would prefer not to take the risk, and I have two children before anyone asks.

I have a Maxi Cosi (£165) car seat for my son. Sometimes, very rarely, he will get picked up by my brother in law. Would this be ok for 1 journey maybe every 2 weeks?
#6
so because it is cheap it MUST be un-safe?! right - so I better go out and buy a £300 seat since that MUST be the most safest?! Logic does not seem right. I am sure this has been through the same British standards tests as others - AND passed - otherwise this would not be able to sell. Maybe done a bit poorly in some categorizes but poeple seriously got to go beyond the logic that expensive is saftest - it just isn't!

And before anyone asks I have 2 kids and a third on the way in about 4 days...

No, but if you buy anything cheap these days, a hoover, a microwave, a tv, it will nearly always break down quicker than the slightly more expensive models. So would you rather it be a broken childs neck? I think not!!
You don't have to spend £300, there are very good models for around £80 or £90, what I am saying is, this may pass all the regulations, but one more test past the required amount may be enough to smash the thing to pieces.

By the way, congrats on the soon-to-be new arrival.

.

Exactly, thats why the Which tests go beyond the minimum tests required by law.

The most expensive dosent mean the safest, but ive seen these very cheap seats and they are very poorly made, just look at the head support for a start its too wide it should hug the head to prevent movement.

Ive got the PDF of the 2007 crash tests, anyone can PM me your email if intredsted and you can see for yourself the differences between seats

I bought one of these years ago and i found they didn't fit any of our family cars (5) I wouldnt recomend these too anyone also there was a clip that you attached to the seatbelt to fix the carseat tight to the seat but that broke staright away.... mothercare do some really reasonable priced carseats in the end we bought one from there!! Hope this helps anyone
Please check with any carseat that the seat you are buying is recommended for your make car ie britax tell you online which seats fit which make cars!!!

Looks ok as a spare seat... :)

Heat added as this is a good deal for those less fortunate to have loads of money, a car seat like this is better than having none at all.

i agree with you lara400, some people dont know what they are talking about or they just like to BRAG that they have (Maxi Cosi (£165). i say wow good for you just remember what percentage your paying for the name and not the product. this is a basic seat for a basic price. yes this seat doesnt have a cup holder nor a flip up tray or dvd player or 42" lcd tv (yes im talking rubbish now) if you wanna pay for the name and extra features then go buy your £165 maxi cosi. BUT DONT PREACH SAYING IF YOU BUY THIS YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR KIDS. BECAUSE YOUR TALKING TOTAL ***P.
oh it must be rubbish like others say it is !!!! is that why 146 voted hot ????? 146 people who dont know what they are talking about the huh (i dont think so) voted hot and heat added

well said lara 400 and imthedaddy
i bought this today for my grandchild and started to feel i had done the wrong thing after reading some of these comments.
I love my grandchildren too much to put them at risk and agree more expense does not make a better product.
It was never a £20 seat its a hot deal because it was £39.99 halfed to £19.99 .
so no i dont feel bad or worried they are in mortal danger from using it.

well said knitwitnanny it is a £39.99 seat that has been reduced to £19.99. but those saying its not safe would still moan at £39.99. dam there must be 100,s no thousands or millions out there who buy basic car seats. those who have are bad parents. (i dont think so)

Identical to the Nania seats that split in 2 on impact ! Nice seat ...... NOT

Voted cold .

Made me laugh...... British Standards tests:p:p:p
Like everything else British nowadays. must be running like clockworks.........

Ordered one today - there are a few reviews on Argos but nothing to put me off buying it. Oh dear when we tried to fit it we decided it was way too much trouble so we took it back for a refund. If you intend to fit it and leave it in place them is may be worth the trouble but the red plastic clip is also very fragile and less than robust.

Bought this seat a couple of weeks ago and have to say its a pile of junk. How it ever passed safety standards i`ll never know. Took it back after a week and the lady in argos gave my money back straight away when she looked at it. I`m all for buying great cheap items but sometimes u need to bit the bullet and pay the little bit more. The one i bought was an extra £40 but the extra level of safety compared to this showed how poorly made this one was.
#24
cheap car seat but i would,nt buy it, got to get my son a new car seat soon but i would rather pay more money and get something that is safe for my baby evan if it coasts me £80 or more.

Heat added as this is a good deal for those less fortunate to have loads of money, a car seat like this is better than having none at all.

When hiring a car seat to go in a hire car in Portugal last week they tried to charge me almost £75 for it & I would have no confidence on the quality there. Better I reckon to buy one of these & take it with you, thats free on Easyjet!!!
#26
Just bought one of these (after much deliberation from reading the previous posts I might add). And although the seat fits well in Grandparents car the bar where the diagonal seat belt fits was missing! Great - yet another trip to Argos through Friday afternoon traffic :x

If you do decide to buy one - check it's all there before leaving the shop!!!

I Also Bought One Of These, Would Never Buy Again.

The Arm Straps Always Came Through The Holes ,
Always Moved About Seat No Matter How Tight The Seatbelt Was.

I Became Scared It WouldNT Help In An Accident.

Bought One Of Those Ones Like A Booster With The Back But Has The Buckle On Them, They Stay In Really Tight .

wow lot of bad reviews...so maybe not hot!
