Do your friend a favour and take this rubbish out of the hamper!!

We're talking about the life of a baby, splash the cash for heaven's sakes people and buy something that you can actually reply on!!

Cold, cheap tat is never a hot deal.

have you owned one of these ??? .. and i am sure when my friends baby arrives she will like i would and do take my child to the doctors if they are unwell you know if your child has a temperature by feeling them the thermometer is just to measure the temperature
i follow my instinct where my children are concerned , not how much something costs .....
and i am sure poundland would not be able to sell them or do a product recall if they were faulty

This is the type of thermometer that would be used in hospitals. This is a fair price just everywhere else charges extortionate amounts. I would use under baby's armpit though not in their mouth. More expensive isn't necessarily better.

Yes yes! Op is a MONSTER. The last time I was babysitting I used one of these and it said the baby was fine but it turned out it was still raw in the middle. What can I say - night ruined.

In spite of the nasty comments,I do agree that where a baby is concerned it's better to buy better quality....unless you're one of those people who intend to give your kids crisps for breakfast, sit them in front of the television instead of interacting with them, and leave your drugs and alcohol lying around after one of your male friends has visited !
Not a comment on the op,but on the type of person who doesn't care about their kids....sadly they are allowed to breed, and I've seen too many pregnant druggies to say nothing.

Haha that's one hell of a sweeping generalisation.

I must live in a crack den, my child eating chips for breakfast and watching 18 rated films all day.

The only thermometer I have is one of those rubbish strip ones, my child is 3 and has been ill about 3 times. Maybe that's because he built up a good immunity from the state of our crackhouse :)

Whatever. Now where did i leave my needles, bet the cheeky kids are playing with them in the porn den again.

I would recommend spending more, these take a long time to get a reading, which makes it difficult to keep in place and get a good reading, the tip can easily snaps off if your child wriggles. The braun flexi tipped one is much quicker, I know it's multiple times the price but gives peace of mind.
Yep, instinct is the most important thing with children but a temperature helps, lets you know calpol working, or not.
Hospitals where I work don't use these, have expensive in ear ones normally. Obviously if money is tight though it's better than nothing!

Sorry to contradict, but these are most certainly not the type used in hospitals or gp's, they use the thermoscan type ones
