oh fab! just brought as a pressie - they will be pleased then lol

I have these and ghds. GHD's edge it a bit but these are really good too. Think rrp of £60 is a bit ott, they were £40 everywhere at the begining of the year, so £30 is a really good price. And a third of the cost of GHD's
#4
yea good point, you can get them around the £40 mark, but tesco and i think boots are selling them around £60, so bit of a rip off!
#5
I own a pair of these and ghd's:

These are quite a bit lighter, so no aching shoulder after 10 minutes of use.
There's an on and off button which can easily be pressed by accident, but you can easily avoided by adjusting your grip
As far as straightening goes, no noticeable difference between the two, the Babyliss possible slightly better being the newer pair in my collection...
#6
I have the pink babyliss ones that were brought out for breast cancer aware, I agree these are great straighteners, who needs £150 ghds.

I am unsure - they are different, but the ones i posted have good reviews, have a look here - http://www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-Pro-230-Radiance-Straightener/dp/B001CBWAU4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=drugstore&qid=1224152216&sr=1-4

Looking for a pair of straighteners for my wife for christmas, and these look ideal, but when I added them to my basket, one of the alternative suggestions was what appears to be a cordless version of them - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000FDK99E/ref=pd_luc_sbs_02_03

Anyone know how the 2 compare? If I had any hair, I'd be tempted to buy them both and try them out myself! :whistling:

Im not sure - but i think they are different models - but dont quote me on tht, they dont seem as poplar on amazon reveiws, but they still have a good rating! To be honest, not sure if cordless is too important - but tht mite be just me!

Thanks. Cordless could be handy with our 13 month old son running round, for some reason he loves hairdryers and straighteners, and understands that if he pulls hard enough on a cable, whatever it's attached to will soon be within his grasp!

There are some Toni & Guy slim (25mm) straighteners on Tesco Direct for £9.99 plus delivery.

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-2395.aspx

Boots are selling a similar product in red for £29.99!

To use an anaglogy, if GHDs and babyliss are ferrraris, these are fiats. They only heat up to 200oC and are not ceramic. Pay the extra, get the good ones, you will notice the difference

Are the ones at Amazon the same as the ones at Argos reduced to £29.49 in the email I've just received - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4428080/Trail/searchtext%3EGREAT+DEALS+ON+PERSONAL+CARE.htm

Might be easier for some to just walk into Argos and pick them up if they are.

Err, Tourmaline is a ceramic?
Probably best not to use them on full 230deg C all the time anyway?

Have no idea if touraline is a ceramic... wilkepeida... its a silicate mineral ?? Still no more knowledgable...

Why would you not use them at full heat? GHDs don't have an adjustable setting anyway (maybe some do, mine don't). The higher the heat the less time you need to keep them in contact with your hair.

Its up to you what you by, but having had cheaper straighteners, ghds, and the babyliss ones, i can assure your hair will look far far better using ghds or babyliss ones.

I have them, got them half price from Argos. They are good but VERY hot and I burnt the front of my fringe with mine so be careful. I don't have them over 200 degrees now.

These have adjustable heat settings, usually from around 130deg C to 230deg C. Best not to constantly use them on the highest heat setting unless you really have unruly hair that cannot be tamed with a lower setting - you're more likely to cause damage to your hair. 230deg is the highest heat setting on a domestic oven - have you seen what it does to a chicken?? :w00t:

I have GHD's and love them but was concerned about their high temp, but my hairdresser told me hair can only take a certain temperature individual to the person and so just because straighteners heat up to 230 deg doesn't mean they will be that when on your hair. I have been using GHD's for years and never damaged my hair and it takes me about 45 mins to straighten it as its very thick and curly.
These straighteners are great value for money and a 5yr warranty makes them a real bargain. Heat added.

These have now been further reduced to £24.50 - I had a problem with my card, so was never charged the original price of £29.49. Just sorted it and noticed that it is even cheaper. Great price if these are as good as everyone is saying they are.
Plus, John Lewis are selling for the same price.

These are now £24.50!

now £22.09...!! wish I'd waited.
