One of the best Sci-fi shows ever. Next cheapest is £74.89 at Sendit.

In 1994, Star Trek had to take a backseat to a new kid on the block, science-fiction series Babylon 5, created by Michael Straczynski. In a nutshell, it's the 23rd Century and the Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation centre. Humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), which makes for some fantastical plot arcs throughout its five year run.

This stylishly compact yet comprehensive box set contains every Babylon 5 episode ever made, the series Crusade and all six Babylon 5 feature films with extras, plus the brand-new feature The Lost Tales, which has never been shown on television.

Good Times
Excellent price
Star Trek never took a back seat to this nonsense.

Hot if you like it.
This one seems to come up regularly. It's been £62 on Amazon for a while now. I'm waiting for it to go under £50 but I may have a long wait!

Yeah right

Hoping Santa will chuck this down the chimney this year
Bought this last year - takes a series to get going but really enjoying it - as a trekky am happy with both
Watching it after watching DS9 right through :) - both are good - worth the cash imho

lol where do you think ds9 got all its ideas from ? the defiant didn't come into it until b5 had the whitestar. and there was so much going on on b5 station itself it made ds9 look boring by comparision. and lets not forget about all the mass battle scenes b5 had which then ds9 jumped onboard with
purchased brilliant
I love space based scifi but wouldn't this look a little dated watching it these days ?

You've clearly never watched "Enterprise".

The best cure for insomnia known to man.

Only the first 2 seasons, they really improved the effects after that.
This was perfect for lying in bed on a sunday morning recovering from saturday nights hangover.. those were the days.. av sum heat
Afraid I have to agree with Tim Bisleys opinion on this show... good price tho.

Nope - most of it was shot in widescreen so looks fine.
good series that was good at the time and still and a great price for what you get think I paid about £90 for it a few years ago and was worth that
One of the Sci-fi programmes I have never really seen.
How is this a good price? It's gone up since the last time it was posted here, which wasn't long ago.

You can get them cheaper buying the seasons individually, and escape the torture that is 'The Lost Tales'
Brillant series.

Watch out the Shadows are Coming!
I am watching these through at the moment. The only downside I can honestly say is that they werent remastered for DVD so they look a little fuzzy at times as all older prints do. However as the likelihood of a Blu ray release is very tiny this is the best you're ever gonna get.

So much better than Star Trek though, intelligent, thoughtful sci-fi only really paralleled by the recent Battlestar Galactica. One of my favourite ever sci-fi series I so wish though it had been remastered.
Best SCI-FI show ever made.
Best SCI-FI show ever made.

Definately agree! :)

The interaction between the major characters work out so much better than in Star Trek. There is an overall plot over the 5 series (at least for the first 3) but with Star Trek it seems like they only really think short term in plot.

Really great box set!

The Rangers series is rubbish though!

Hear hear. It's dated very badly too. In terms of the acting & effects.
Much prefer TNG & DS9 (a precursor to BSG in so many ways).

Wish some of the Trek sets could sell for this price though.
Very cheap.

You can always get indivual opinions - even ones that love it and then trash it.

The chap has just grown and required something with a lot more depth and subtlety - that's not to say that B5 was rubbish - far from it.

It's like saying The A Team or Knight Rider was rubbish. It was right for its time, and those growing up have moved to things more sophisticated now.

I can give a quite a few more examples.....

My dad recently said that most of the trash we see on TV is rubbish and anyone having read the works of Shakespeare and appreciate the quality of that work will never watch what we watch on prime time TV. My argument is that even if that is the case that doesn't mean that prime time TV stuff is rubbish - just different.

When I was growing up, He-Man and Thundercats was the best and brought with it good moral values. Now look at cartoons like Yu-Gi-Oh - they're much more in depth and watching He-Man et al afterwards seems so rubbish - with the morals and values blatently mentioned at the end of each episode rather than subtlely within the cartoon.

I read fantasy - most people starting fantasy will have come across David Eddings and we love his works because of the dialogue between the characters he creates making them likeable and adorable. A few years later and they seem cheesy and possibly sickeningly lovey dovey and we're ready for something more bitter.

Speaking of bitter, cider for the ladies, lager for the boys and bitter for the men...I recall in one episode of East Enders.

Taste changes over time, and the tastes for B5 may change.

In this instance though, I disagree that B5 is something that was good in the past but rubbish now. Whilst looking back and watching the first few episodes of B5 you'd think it was average at best, once the stories and the actors really got into it, there is a deep immersive story in the background whilst day to day stories in the foreground. The mysteriousness of the shadows raise questions all the way through until at least the third series - something that the other reader got bored of on rewatch because he knows it all. If he watched any of the Trekkie series a few more times, he'd probably get the same reaction.

The story, acting and intelligence of this series is what sells it. I recently watched all of it from start to finish after not watching any of it for 2 years and I still enjoyed it and was addicted.

G'kar and Mollari are just simply amazing actors and incredibly portrayed.

Rangers series? you mean crusade?
Ye that was dreadful but it could have became good had it been able to flesh out and also not had the airing sequence screwed up and also screwed up on the DVD boxset also.

I don't get what this Star Trek rivalry going on in here is about?
I like both and I enjoy lots of other series too but I still think B5 stands head and shoulders above most of them if not all. As much as I enjoy Star Trek in its various incarnations I have to say that B5 just slays all of them.
