In 1994, Star Trek had to take a backseat to a new kid on the block, science-fiction series Babylon 5, created by Michael Straczynski. In a nutshell, it's the 23rd Century and the Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation centre. Humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), which makes for some fantastical plot arcs throughout its five year run.
This stylishly compact yet comprehensive box set contains every Babylon 5 episode ever made, the series Crusade and all six Babylon 5 feature films with extras, plus the brand-new feature The Lost Tales, which has never been shown on television.

I'm actually just finishing season 4 from the last time this was cheap. Heat!

Loved this series, well worth owning.

Probably one of the best sci-fi series for anyone who has at least half a brain :whistling:

Great series. Great price.

Did any of the main cast go onto anything big? Only character I can think of is Delen who went onto be the crazy french woman on lost.

Jerry Doyle who plays Garibaldi is now a talk radio show host. Claudia Christian (Ivanova) is a singer/producer.
Richard Briggs who played the doctor and Andreas Katsulus the actor who play G'Karr both sadly died.
The actor who played Londo Mollari retired from acting. The actors who played G'Karr and Mollari I thought were both outstanding....

I would strongly disagree.
B5 is a series of great depth, far darker than any of the Star Trek's and infinitely more accomplised.

Cheers for the info. I knew the fella who played the doctor had died, didn't realise the actor who played G'Karr had also died. I thought Andreas Katsulus was the best actor on it.

Favourite episode? Might not be as action packed as other episodes, but for me its 'The Deconstruction of Falling Stars'.

Richard Briggs death was very sudden (brain embolism or something) whilst Andreas was lung cancer (he chain smoked whenever he was off set).
In my mind B5's strong point is its scripting and acting rather than its action sequences. Parts of the script are fantastically written.

G'Karr also played the one armed guy in The Fugitve.

Superb series, its such a shame that the series got mangled and the main story got compressed and then extended over the 5 seasons.
Worth it for the G'Karr/Londo Love/Hate relationship.

Logged in just to add heat and post.

I got this when it was the larger set and didnt have the lost tales in for about £70 and it was a bargin back then, this is even better!

For any that havent watched but are a fan of sci-fi this is probably one of the more important series to watch, however I would make mention that the first series can seem a little laborious at times as the actors where finding their feet, the makeup/costumes where a little rough and some of the topics seemed very heavy going for a first season,.but do push on with it though as the rest is an absolute treat with many memorable epsodes.

My fav ep will always be 'Severed Dreams' (S3E10) with the buildup to the Churchill/Roanoke bit (wont say incase it spoils it!).

Anyway, enough rambling, GO BUY IT NOW!

A) Its not MY statement its a quote from Spaced.
B) I bought the series, watched about 6 episodes, couldn't take any more and sold it again. Poor acting, crap sets and effects. So thinking about it, I woud go along with the Spaced quote :-D

Probably the best scifi show ever.
Already got the entire lot on DVD.

The show is a little slow to get into from episode 1, however I only started watching it from Series 3 when things were heating up really good, then watched series 4 then 5 and finally got series 1 & 2 on DVD. If you watch it in the right order it may loose you, but when you have seen how it all ends you really want to see how it all started and where all the individuals came from. It's a little like watching Star Wars in the order they were made rather than the order the story goes.

Bruce Boxleitner (Capt. John Sheridan) starred in the original TRON movie and will be back in the new TRON 2.0 in 2011.

That Spaced quote is class!

Great series B5 and this box set's a bargain! Best SciFi ever? I'm kinda spilt between B5 and the remade Battlestar Galactica.

Anyone buying this and not seen it before, give it a little while to pick up and you'll be hooked.
