In 1994, Star Trek had to take a backseat to a new kid on the block, science-fiction series Babylon 5, created by Michael Straczynski. In a nutshell, it's the 23rd Century and the Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation centre. Humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), which makes for some fantastical plot arcs throughout its five year run.
This stylishly compact yet comprehensive box set contains every Babylon 5 episode ever made, the series Crusade and all six Babylon 5 feature films with extras, plus the brand-new feature The Lost Tales, which has never been shown on television.

Oooh so tempting...can't decide whether to get into this or Stargate...but great find none the less :-)

Great price for one of my fave series.
Although after watching it again recently I couldn't help laughing at the awful CGI in the first series. It does get better though.

Apparently when they produced the series they saved the animation source files, intending to improve and re-render them at a later date (e.g. for the DVD release), however someone lost the files so this wasn't economically viable. It's a huge shame, the CGI scenes had to be upscaled for HiDef release.

Looks like a new slimline boxset compared to the one I bought a couple of years ago.

I'd have to say pick B5. Stargate is great and I'm particularly enjoying SGU but B5 is not one to miss. Excellent show and a steal at under £50.

I never noticed it.
I watch for the story.
If I was of that mind I'd never have watched Dr Who or Blake's7

Anyone pondering this should start watching the series which is being shown on the FX channel at 6pm Monday to Fridays. Today was the pilot and Ep 1 is tomorrow.

I wouldn't judge it just on the opening few episodes though. The whole series gets deeper and more interwoven into the overall vision, so with 5 episodes a week you can quickly get acclimatised.

Bargain of the year, simply magnificent stories.
Far darker than any of the Trek things, and way better.
