Nearest rival price is £120 @ Sendit.com

If the £10 voucher is used, £98 is bargain !!!

From previous experience with foxy, good luck if you can get this one with them. Not rated ;-)

Hells bells! waiting for mine to arrive from the Hut, looks like I've just wasted an extra £27:-(

very good post - i'm still wading my way thro' 1-4 seasons - could be worth buying this and selling off my seasons ----now there is a thought....

If anyones thinking of taking up this price just a word of caution - the kindly Royal Maul today put a card through my door to say there was an underpaid postage and customs charge of £23.51 on this item. Lovely.

[edit]

This now seems to have been resolved - see my later post.

Gotta love foxy!
One of the reasons I never use foxy anymore; for me it doesn't matter what items "on sale" they have! ;-)

That's very odd, I thought foxy was a UK company...I'd get in contact with them about this issue.

Welcome to the HUKD forums o_t_e.

Foxy is based in Jersey, that means every item they sell which costs £18 or more can be charged with customs!

It is not Foxys fault the customs want their pound of flesh, surely,

Hi Eggman - I agree in general that Foxy cannot be held responsible for the actions of british customs; I do think however, that they should make it apparent at the point of sale that the price you pay may be subject to a further charge.

Additionally, Foxy are certainly responsible for not paying the full postage costs.

It's the lack of transparency that is an irritation more than the charge itself - my working hours preclude me being able to get to the RM depot so unless Foxy come up with a solution the package will have to be returned to them

Welcome to HotUKDeals o_t_e but sorry to hear you've had a problem with a customs payment.

Perhaps you'll get a response in this thread from marcusq on Monday. He's the man from Foxy...

Foxy I believe are based in Jersey - ala Play. But that's about where the similarity stops..

This is from Foxy:

The Price of the Goods shall be that stipulated on the Seller's Website. The Price is EXCLUSIVE of VAT. The Price INCLUDES delivery charges to the UK.

and this is from Play:

Credit and Debit cards are debited on the day of shipping by Play.com. All prices include sales taxes (where applicable) unless otherwise stated, and no charge is made for shipping.

So with Play you've already paid the taxes the customs people expect.. hence they don't get charged if they exceed the £18 import limit. Whereas Foxy make no provisions to already pay the taxes owed for this country, so when they come in.. they are liable to be caught and charged by the customs people. So this is what.. 17.5% and at least a £4 handling fee for the Royal Mail.

Welcome to the HUKD forums o_t_e.

They're based in Jersey. No VAT payable for items under £17, but obviously this doesn't come under that provision

EDIT: sorry, didn't see rd1701's post.

Thanks for the extra info rd1701 and poppy10 :)

Hi all - thanks for your comments - received a response to my message to Foxy as follows:

I am very sorry to hear that. I have refunded your card the £23.51.
Please collect the item from the post office otherwise it will be
returned to us. It is rare that this happens but can happen on larger
higher value items so I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Kind Regards,
Marcus

Thought it worthwhile posting the message to present a fair portrait of the company - I must admit this response is much more positive than I was expecting; I had not previously used Foxy but on the basis of this outcome I'll look at them favourably in the future.

Thanks for the feedback and it's good to see a positive outcome :)

Incidentally 'the complete universe' is set to expand when 'Babylon 5: The Lost Tales' are released next year.
