Had to one sim free from Amazon. Had to return it because of the overheating issues.

It's a joke. £500+ phone and it has a list of issues.

I suggest people look up the problems on Youtube.

I had Wi-Fi problems with Sony Xperia products - S and T phones, and the Z and Z2 tablets.

From your link, looks like they still haven't sorted them out (for some customers). Coupled to the eternal wait for software updates, I just can't justify the risk of any more Sony mobile products. Sigh...

in contrast, neither my wife nor myself have had any issues with our xperia t phones in over two years with them, and their software updates have been quicker than most of their competitors. also, they're miles better than anyone else when it comes to releasing their source code and support the developer community around their devices, so it very much depends what you're looking for in a device.

personally, i'd get the z1 compact (or wait a little longer for the inevitable z2 compact). but that's just because i've already got 7 and 8 and 10 inch tablets around the house, and see no need for a 5" phone when my phone's already 4.6".

No wifi problems with Xperia T, had it 18+ months or so

Great price!

Very good price, heat added.

However the fantastic LG G2 is just a smidge behind in certain areas and better in others, plus was ludicrously cheap at £13.99 !

I have to say since receiving my LG G2 today and comparing it to my excellent nexus 4, the LG is a big improvement in every area possible.

I'm glad it worked for you (and that's why I added "for some customers", anticipating the usual tsunami of abuse!). I've had no wi-fi problems with computers, iPads, iPhones, Nokia Lumias... but I just hit a wall with Sony.

I have tried everything to get Sony products to work on my home wi-fi (including changing the router, faffing around with every possible device and router setting, installing the eventual software updates...) to no avail. From my experience, quite a few people in the Sony (Ericsson) support forums (and people who work in the local O2 shop) have had wi-fi problems with their Xperia phones, so I guess it's just a question of trying out any device during your "cooling off" period while you still have a chance to return or exchange.

Hey mate.

Do you have a link for the LG g2 at 13.99 p/m? Is the phone free? Cheers.

Did you try changing the wifi channel on the router? take note of your neighbours channel & make sure its different to theirs

Sony's phones are all rubbish since the Z (and I've owned the Z and Z1). From what I've seen on the internet, I'm not even going to try the Z2. They're awful replacing/'fixing' too!

I've got an S4 with only 500mb of 4g data and never go over. I think I got to 480mb once but usually I use around 400mb.
If you don't stream video or music (maybe the odd YouTube video) and just use it for email, Facebook, eBay and surfing etc then it is fine.
Obviously use wifi at home

I haven't had WiFi issues either with my T, but you can't say they are quick with updates - they have always been behind with the T, which was supposedly the flagship (the"Bond" phone) for a month or before Z announced!

4.3 took an age to be pushed out - so long that they bypassed 4.2, but even then 4.4 had been released for some time. In fact it was originally released with 4.0 (ICS), when 4.1 was then already well established.
#25
you think sony are slow with updates, try htc, you dont even get them
wifes z1 is a fantastic phone and in <18 months shes had 4 updates all above 300mb so i doubt there minor changes
if my contract was up id love the z2

Honestly this website full of Sony hate.
I own the Xperia z2 and it is easily the best phone I've ever had. I haven't had any issues at all and the battery on this thing is amazing 3380mah to be exact. I highly recommend this phone to anyone.

generally the problem is that the few who have problems will mention them, but the masses who have no problem won't mention it

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried everything (which was a bit odd, since no other computers, laptop or mobile devices seemed to have a problem connecting to my home wi-fi).

Sony seemed to acknowledge the problem (which - again - doesn't cover all customers), but could only promise that it would be addressed in future software updates.

The problem was that wi-fi reception was exceptionally weak and would often drop completely, making it impossible to browse the web (never mind streaming video or whatnot). This happened on other wi-fi networks as well, so I don't think the problem was limited to my own home wi-fi. Data connections on the 'phones were never a problem, but it made the tablets virtually unusable.

When i try and add the code I get an error that the site is down for maintenance?
#31
@ dwor, my wifes z1 works best on 5 GHz wifi so maybe thats an issue if you dont have that feature on your router

The website wouldn't work on my laptop when I tried to get the deal last night but my wife managed to get it for me using her ipad. Bit strange I thought.

However, this morning I have an email from mobilephonesdirect saying my order has been declined because my "credit request had been declined by EE".

I don't believe for a second that this cancellation has anything to do with EE and my credit rating (which is flawless). It is much more likely to be a cop out for the shop who messed up the deal somehow. Very dishonest practice if you ask me.
#33
never had any wife issues but from the day I bought my Z1 it's been a dose, touch screen issues where it's zooms with single finger scroll or misses input when scrolling random restarts which the awesome Sony told me is software relating to apps I've installed reset the phone several times and always updated the firmware and still it done it now after kitkat was released my Z1 is even worse it overheats constant drains battery in mere hours and doesn't charge faster than it drain even when idle so fid all the play services resets ane disabling sh1t just to have a sort of working phone so anyone that wants a Sony phone good luck with that me personally give a BT celnet over their garbage, more force closes than an automatic door

Jim: interestingly enough, I got declined for an unbelievable s4 offer about a month ago...I was baffled too, as my credit rating is flawless. Something fishy here.

Ordered 2 last night one at 10.30 for the wife and then after mulling it over one at 11.30 for me - both our contracts were up at the same time.

She has had her dispatch email today but when I track my order it seems to be stuck at needing proof of ID - no call or email from mobile phones direct though... guess I will have to ring them ffs.

same here they do try and tell us we have 90% signal hmm not a chance in this road and the next 3 at least shame :(

With reference to my earlier post:

Contacted mobilephonesdirect and they gave me the credit reference check number they got from EE, so seems they were telling the truth.

Phoned EE who told me no credit check had been performed but they had created an account. Wouldn't match deal.

Phoned mobilephonesdirect again. This time they were able to see that my credit check was OK but when EE had tried the next step which was to to put me on the £23.99 tarriff, EE said the tarriff was not available for me (hence the decline). No idea why.

Looks like no deal for me :(

Just tried replacing the order in case it was just a glitch in the Matrix the first time.

Fingers crossed.
