  The 32gb one is only round the corner, what with apple sending invites for its mini event on the 23rd of this month, google are bound to launch the nexus 32gb version the day before that.

  Still not as good as my iPad. Had this 2 weeks and sold it on. Turned sluggish and slow responsiveness. iPad doesn't have this problem plus had to customise it even to rotate the home screen and root it. Not too impressed. Bring on the iPad mini

  He probably had it brimming with games and apps. These things are computers and have to be treated as such. He's better off with the idiotPad where you simply can't break it. Mind, you can't do owt interesting with it either.

  If you do root your Nexus 7, I'd recommend using the Goomanager app to download updates (new Google apps for 4.1.2 just released!) and try out the Paranoid Android Cyanogenmod 10 release, which gives you extra options for DPI settings (e.g. hybrid/phone/tablet UIs) and just went to being based on 4.1.2 recently itself.
  
  I've had the sluggishness myself a few times, but keeping a couple of GBs free and doing a ROM update (which I do weekly anyway) seems to cure it. My suspicions are possibly something related to TRIM on the flash storage. This is a pure guess though - whatever the cause, I hope it can be fixed in software!
  
  I do think that the trend not to put an SD card slot is a bit poor though - the new iPad Mini is rumoured to be coming out in 8, 16, 32 and 64GB models with massive gaps in pricing (like the Nexus 7!) between the sizes. It's a very poor way of gouging the end-user for profit. To be honest, 16GB is the minimum you should have built-in in *any* tablet because 8GB models leave about 5GB free, which isn't enough for more than a couple of hi-def movies (and the cloud stuff is useless - HD video streaming is a joke over 3G - never mind the pathetic 3G quotas we have in the UK...often not enough to stream one HD movie a month!). Of course, you'd be tethering with your 3G phone too cos the N7 doesn't have 3G (i.e. the whole cloud thing just got twice as worse).

  I think brownstone says it all. Had 1/2 storage full and it suffered. He needs to understand its the running apps taking up memory not how much you have installed!! As he said iPad doesn't break - surely a food thing it is for me!!!??

  For me its nexus all the way (Unrooted), mind you brought the £2 app so could buy a £2 mini usb to USB in cable to add a 32gb thumb drive for extra movies. Cloud stored all my music albulms thanks google and just pick 2-3 at a time in memory. And linked at home to my iomega homeshare NAS giving me access too another 1TB of video all over the house. Outside yes can 3g tether and do to my andriod phone gives me access to my netflix account. So I'd say it was a fine purchase. Now just wish my 5 year old girl hadn't worked out to install games as she wants to have it every time sees in my hand.
