I wonder how a netbook like this would handle Visual Studio and Eclipse. Would very much like a super portable work station.

Don't particularly want to go up to a full laptop, even if it would deliver a better fps in the apps.

It depends on what you mean by a full laptop, have you looked at the ASUS with the CULV processor from CPW for £350? I think that strikes a better balance as a sub-laptop machine as it's still light with very good batterylife but its processor has much better performance than the Atom processors in netbooks.
