DeWalt are part of the B&D group so not really targeted at the trade. Perfectly adequate for DIY use.

The little one is ideal for drilling wood, plasterboard and as a screwdriver. Very handy for everyday jobs as it's cordless. However it will not drill through thick steel, concrete or brick, etc... That's where the percussion drill comes in handy. Hence, that's why you need 2 drills.

Percussion refers to the drumming (striking) action rather than the sound! I.e. it's another term for a hammer drill and makes it ideal for drilling through concrete or masonry. Also, the percussion drill is single speed, meaning it's not suitable for more delicate jobs where you need to control the speed of the drill to prevent damaging softer materials (e.g. kitchen cabinets).
