I so love this site, a deal site. People post deals thinking they are doing the community a favour, only to get the haters crawl out from under their rocks. Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, I was brought up in a different generation, one which said if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all !
Thank you to all those op's who have commented in a positive manner, it's nice to see.
What exactly do peple expect for £279 nowadays? Be realistic guys, it's big, its a good price, it's not top spec, it's not a Sony, but it's not a bad deal, and that is what this site was designed to share.........keep posting the deals guys, save the bitter remarks for someone who understands your needs, maybe your FB buddy's can help (_;)

Seems bad reviews for sound quality amongst others. Anyone know of any better experience?

These are really not great TV's but I suppose for £279 if you only care about screen inches then these are ok. It's probably better to pay a bit more than Asda and come away with you life... A slight whiff of cheap BlauPunkts in Asda and the shoppers become feral...my personal favourite...

I purchased one of these in the Black Friday mauls! & I can honestly say the picture on it is superb, next investment will be a Soundbar as the sound could be a bit better, it's no where near as bad as people make out tho. Great bargain!

what was the price of this in the black friday sales?

Cold.

If I don't have to brawl with a bloke called 'Baz' with a River Island coat on for it I am not interested.

seriously! When you buy any TV this size and budget you shouldn't expect decent sound. It is expected that you will have a sound system.
That said - I wouldn't go near it. Order hassle free from Finlux if going this route.

Bought this from Richer Sounds about a month ago for £370, a bargain at that price so this is a steal. I have a VM Tivo plugged into it and I watch a lot of footy. HD looks fantastic. Sound is garbage, I've plugged an old cheapo £10 set of PC speakers in the back and now it sounds great.

If you want a TV and you're not an absolute video nut then buy one of these, you'll be happy you did.

Got one of these and it has a superb picture sound is ok but nowhere near as bad as people make out

Has optical out, 3 HDMI, Scart, VGA input, CI slot, LAN port, 2 USB's and plays MKV's and MPEG4's without any trouble at all, you can also get the PVR upgrade if you want to record programmes..

Just don't expect booming 5.1 surround sound from two 8+8w speakers the size of your palm cause thats an impossibility, although most people who bought this TV seem to think it should have! (rolls eyes)

This TV also comes with a 5 year warranty which would normally set you back £55 on its own so that really makes this a no brainer even at the higher £299 price

I was wondering when i saw the fighting for similar tellies on Black and Blue Friday, what is the energy rating for these tellies ?

I imagine the electricity bills might be quite high, probably offsetting any big savings made at time of purchase.

I got one of these on Black Friday,on-line of course. When it arrived I turned it on..Nice blue menu screen, with 3 shaded arc shaped rings on it, It wasn't until I got it tuned and had picture on screen that I noticed the rings were still there. So I ordered a relacement
which arrived a couple of days later and guess what...the rings are on that too..either I am unlucky or they have come from a bad batch. Anyhow I am now looking for another tv, avoiding Blaupunkt like the plague as they say.
cheers

That will be the freznel fix detailed on the Black Friday deal for this TV. Several posters have fixed theirs with ease and I will be doing mine at some point as it's only noticeable on the blue screen when choosing an input which isn't yet powered on.

For all those slagging it off without actually having seen one then you really need to stop talking crap. The HD picture on these sets is superb and the SD picture is fine (it's 50" so not going to be as clear as a 32" is it). Got mine for £229 and it's the best bargain i've had off this site by far.

For anyone that gets one or has the arc shadows have a read of this thread:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/blaupunkt-50-148z-50-inch-full-hd-1080p-led-tv-with-freeview-hd-249-tesco-direct-2064529?page=44#post23641476 (page 38 post #757 for the freznel fix)

If you had bothered to log on here and read the HUKD thread you would have seen that this is the frezzle and is a particularly easy fix as many others have done it including myself took me the best part of 6 minutes start to finish!

I suspect that the fat & skinny couple were planted by the photographer... Just something fishy about them, the neon hat indoors + the freshly dyed purple hair. The fact they both went way OTT and were separately photographed too

Thanks Sp0oner and crazylegs, I missed that, I didn't expect to have to repair a new tv when it arrived. I have 2 others (both Sonys) in the house and never had that problem..If that screen is not fixed securely,is that not a manufacture or design problem or are all led/lcd the same? Also what happens the warranty?
Again thanks for the heads up.

It's believed to be caused by being knocked about in transit/by the courier not helped by the minimal packaging.

Good, serves the profiteering greedy bums right. They have stopped those who wanted one for themselves from being able to buy one so I hope they all make a loss.
