Unfortunately you would, yes. The phone gets gradually slower to respond as the apps hog the RAM.

If you're using it for calls, texting and camera then it'll be fine. If you're looking to use lots of social media apps, a few games, some photography apps etc, is want at least 2gigs of RAM.

A few years ago RAM was a minor issue - now it really isn't.

I speak as a previous owner of Moto G phones.

Neither things really help with portability though.

You can hardly whip your PlayStation out for a quick game to pass some time on a train / bus / taxi / limo and a good quality phone camera is good for on the go shots that would be missed setting up your dslr.

The world moves on as does tech and your right in a short period of time people will want 4gb.

For what you need as mentioned above, texts, calls and the occasional internet visit please don't waste your time with this phone. You could spend £25 and get everything you need. oO

i managed to get the deal yesterday for 69 quid. Regarding the 1gb, it's all about how memory is managed and how background apps are loaded and unloaded, more memory just means you don't have to unload background apps, it does not necessarily mean faster processing, that is handled by the SoC not the ram. Anyway, have some great mate..

spend another £20-30 and you can get a phone with 3GB ram instead

Perhaps it hasn't dawned on you that some people may not be able, or want, to spend another "£20 to £30" on a phone.

    £25? Excellent - where?

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5327018

There you go a mere £29.95 and you can call text and occasionally browse the internet

    Or shop.vodafone.co.uk/mSh…607 for a mere £20.

woulda been nice to see FHD, perhaps a little far tho, but the 1GB RAM is shocking and unforgivable

anyone who knows anything about phones knows that 2GB is the minimum for even an average phone user, this phone will not be fast, and will not handle any type of social, game or heavy graphics app at all, it will severely slow everything else down

With phones you are far better off spending the extra and getting an actually decent phone, this rlly does suck as a device imo

its funny that people will shudder at spending a couple hundred for a daily device that'll last em up to 2 years, but don't blink at paying 40 quid for a takeaway or 6 quid a drink on a night out

don't think so. since lenovo bought Motorola, they have increased the price of the better specced models, and under specced the lower end cheaper models, not what the moto g used to be about sadly.

Thanks for the heads up. My Mrs. finally got fed up with her Windows phone. Apps disappearing all the time. I ditched mine too and moved to Android about 6 months ago. Sadly won't be disappointed to see the back of Windows phones.

It's not a phone, it's a moile computer. A phone is now an app. If you want a phone, go to Tesco and browse the handsets with buttons on them.

And yes, in 2 years time the apps will probably have evolved to the point where you'll need better specs if you want to use them efficiently.

i have been using mine for a week as a replacement for my HTC10. Im surprised how good it is, plays films and games with ease. it is a little slower than my HTC but for £80 its a great buy.

    This is a TERRIBLE deal......

    COLD.....

You should pay £10 more and get the Vodaphone S6.

Which has 2gb RAM, and a 1080p Screen

    - Also - LENOVO has bought Motorola, so this phone will NOT see any updates after 7.0.

For wasting £80, on a 1gb phone, is a very bad choice, sorry.

Heck I bought my original moto g for £90 in 2013!!! THAT had the same pics as this!!!!!

For most users 1gb of ram with stock Android gives an acceptable level of performance at a great price point.

I still have the original Moto g as a second phone and that one still flies along and it only has 1gb of ram.

There are way too many nerdy comments on this site when it comes to phones, tablets, computers and tv deals. Always banging on about specs as if everyone has the same requirements they do.

Sure, 2gb would be preferable but at this price point and for the average user this phone will perform to a decent standard.
