Hmm, I'm a bit paranoid about compromising my account going that way.

Versions are ROW tradeable so does not compromise an account.

This is a good price, but I personally would recommend buying the original versions (currently available from gog.com for $4.99 / £3 approx) and then modding them. You'll get a very similar enhancement compared to the new versions, but without some of the bugs that are still present in the enhanced editions...

Simple Modding guide here, but there are many other mods out there.

But GOG doesn't log number of hours played like steam does. That's why I buy all my games on Steam even if they cost more as I like to see my list of hours wasted per game

The hours played are incredibly unreliable for me! I opened FFVII for the first time, change some settings, then exited. Apparently I had played for 100 hours O_O

Got my copy through a trading site for 2 TF2 keys which I paid $1.80 each for, so effectively £2.20. Last time I looked for it there was no one offering it for less than 12 keys! And yeah, totally safe doing it that way. Using a VPN to buy it from the Russian store yourself or to activate a region-locked game is against the terms of use, but trading is practically encouraged.
