Bee's are good and we need to encourage more - so go get one. Or make your own, which I'm sure you can also do.

Note; these aren't full-on bee keeping kits for producing honey. They're just designed to create a home for wild bees in your garden.

Now buzz off.

Solitary bees. Less bees and they either lack stings, or rarely sting. And bees are great.

Bees pollinate huge ammounts of fruit and vegetables that nothing else pollinates - without bees, the food chain will collapse. Bees are mostly harmless and threatened globally.
I think its you that is crap and horrible...

Good deal but unfortunately the holes aren't big enough for the bees in my area......midges and ladybirds can fit in with a bit of a squeeze but the poor bees just don't fit.

Great if your bees are on Weightwatchers otherwise steer clear because you'll have some very unhappy bees.

These are meant for the solitary/mason bee rather than for Bumble Bees. Bumble Bees are also in decline and if you have a quiet garden you can encourage them to build a nest themselves.

Only certain bumble bees in a nest have a sting but be aware that they CAN sting again and again if they think their nest is under threat so no good if you have young children or pets who might investigate. It is a myth that a bumble bee dies after one sting (although this does apply to the honey bee).

So whilst bumble bee nests should be encouraged you need to think about who uses your garden before you encourage them into your garden. A nest needs to be "left alone" and the bumble bees will be very happy. They will buzz around you (again something to think about if you have kids) but are harmless unless you provoke them or threaten their nest. It is not a good idea to have a nest near a trampoline/paddling pool/swings/slides or indeed anywhere where boistrous play can take part ! Or barbeques or the like !

Bumble bees are a lovely insect but one that needs to be treated with respect.

Honey bees are totally different - they are the ones that can "swarm" (bumbles never swarm) and you would not want to encourage them unless you wanted to keep a hive. They are far more aggressive than the bumble or solitary bee. Perhaps this is the variety the poster who does not like bees was speaking of. In swarm they can look very scary - but remember they are only doing what nature intended and they are the ones who make our honey.

Bumble bees are lovely. My garden is simply full of them.
A few days ago one landed on my bare knee while I was out cycling and travelled with me for a few miles before buzzing off. It was a most welcome little passenger. :)

Voted hot.

I don't think anyone has emphasised enough the importance of bees. Bees are becoming increasingly endangered and without them, we will quickly run out of fruits and vegetables.

This book covers the subject quite well: http://www.amazon.com/Spring-without-Bees-Endangered-ebook/dp/B001QPHNWG

Would be a good trap - i hate bee's. Even if we do need them.

Would get it - then spray them with bleach or something. muahahhha

I'll pop to Sainsburys and see if I can get a couple. I love mason bees - they pollinate all the fruit trees in my garden :)

Good idea, anyone posted a deal for cheap bleach.

I have got nothing against bees or any insects.

Although I will say this - If you have never been stung by one then you may want to avoid them because you may have an allergic reaction and even die.

I support Man Utd passionately and am fascinated by Bees.

Of course I am not.. there is two people in my family alone that are allergic to stings and have to carry around a syringe with a solution that will stop them from going down hard if they get stung.

Don't think God posts on this forum, but my guess is it's an unnatural urge you have to stick things in very small holes
(Or maybe you could try only responding to topics that do actually interest you)

Any person who states that bees are crap is definitely mentally deficient, without them, the whole planet would grind to a halt, no fruit, limited vegetables etc etc!!.
I suggest this person gets a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
