DESCRIPTION

This 10-part HBO television miniseries focuses on Easy Company, a group of American soldiers in World War II, tracking their experiences from the beginning of boot camp to the end of the war. Anchored by actors Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston, the series gives detailed attention to their experiences as a group, as well as the way that each of them develops individually. Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book of real-life accounts, BAND OF BROTHERS was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who worked together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Hanks also directed one episode, featuring his son, Colin Hanks.

Aw well, I've ordered one anyway. I'll watch it and if I don't love it, it would make a good Christmas pressie!!
#8
i've had this for ages now and still watch it now, its basically a series of saving private ryan, so if you liked that then this is for you.

i highly recommend it.
#9
I bought this for £55 when it first came out so this is a right bargain !!

Emmajk42 I have to say it's one of the best shows I've ever seen, as landofan says its like SPR but I think it's much better.

Extras are fantastic as well.

yep it was that one, the tin sort of opens out on a hinge, and you can pull out the cardboard "concertina" where all the dvds are on it. It's kind of funky and you have to pull out over a meter of cardboard to get the last disk!

I've not watched the DVDs yet, but I saw it when it first came on TV years ago. It was made by the BBC and I think Dreamworks. Spielberg directed some of the episodes I think.

Gutted! :( I would have grabbed this in a shot! (heh, see what I did there? "shot", shooting, band of brothers.. No? A please yourselves then... :P)

My fault for not checking UKHD often enough, but some of us do have work to do you know!

:)

Thanks anyway though Emma.

Had this set for about 18 months and as it happens just got round to watching it this week....Brilliant,one of those where you just can't wait for the next episode and so you put another one on and.....next thing you know it is the middle of the night.:)
#22
I've just received this, but it's only the cardboard version. I think I might give them a call and ask why did my friend get the tin version last week, and I only got this one...

It's worth a go, but honestly I there is no difference between the two except the tin!

Also I paid £17ish for it, but was the box version, just at the more expensive price

I think its made by HBO... BBC doesnt have the money to spend $84 million on a set :D

Ayup, it was way out of BBC's budget. I was the first episode last night - enjoyed it quite a lot. But I was glad when David Schwimmer was sent away... is he in any more episodes? (Here's hoping no...)
#26
BBC made it in collaboration I said  I thought it was Dreamworks but Rips says HBO, maybe all 3 done it I know there was a lot of companies British, American and Canadian.

As for David Schwimmer I think he is in just the First 1 or 2, while they are in England still, sounds like you want him to go to Omaha Beach and get shot Emma? lol

Manage to get a Tin version too?

PS sorry to bump an old thread
#27
LOL Couldn't wait to get rid of Schwimmer, he kind of annoys me!

Nah, I got the cardboard version, still really happy with it though, it was an excellent show!
#28
As an aside, has anybody watched Prison Break? Got the R1 boxset and have seen 2 episodes - really good so far. It will be for sale when I've finished watching it!

never had the time when it was on TV, I'll probably get round to downloading one or two episodes and if I like, then buy the boxset

Finally got around to buying Hustle Series' 1 & 2 a few month's back. I love this program, it's really clever, and now am about to watch the first two episodes of Spooks as I have only seen parts of an episode, and as it's made by the same people as Hustle, It could be worth a watch

HAHA well I don't mind him, but I admit when I saw this on TV, I thought it was an odd casting choice!
