Brilliant price for a Brilliant series.
#3
I'd be very tempted... If I had a blu-ray player!

If I had to buy this again, it'd be Amazon. My set came from Play when it was on offer a while back and it was packaged badly. Plenty had good packaging mind you, so don't write Play off too soon - just depends who's packing it I suppose.

Mine looked a little like it'd taken part in WWII on the top edge

Hot though - thanks OP - everyone should own a copy of this series imo.

Is the quality much better on the Blue-Ray against the non B-Ray?

What a price from the great series. Awesome!

Sorry i had to vote cold as it is always this price pretty much everywhere. Its a good price but hardly a "deal" in the Hotukdeals sense of the word

ive seen it on VM HD and it was stunning
i would expect the blue ray to be even better
#14
If it's the same price in more than 1 place and is regularly this price .. where is the 'deal' :?

Yes it's a great series and worth buying (no dispute there), but I don't see it being a deal when it's usually on offer for this price :whistling:

I own both the DVD and BD boxsets and the biggest improvement is definatly the sound, from DD5.1 to DTS-HD makes it so much more atmospheric amd "cinematic"

The picture quality improvment is mostly seen when watching on a very large screen, i watch films (and these big budget TV Series) on a 120' Optoma projector and the BD are far superior even with the grain and "washed out" look added by the director, on a 42' LCD TV the difference is hardly noticebale to be honest.

My opinion is if you have the money, large TV and a decent Amp and speaker setup then this is worth every penny of £25 but if your watching on a <50' TV with two speakers and already have it on DVD then its not.

i agree with that, i would be watching it on my laptop, 16" screen  and on tht there wont be much of a quality difference but i can take it downstairs to my dads 50" 1080p 5.1 surround system and it would be immense

Good value! Got it on DVD but don't feel the need for it on Blu-ray. Don't know why they try and pass it off as a "limited collectors edition" though! It's only in a tin case! Amazing series though, well worth the money.
Also does anyone know how many discs are in this blu ray version? DVD is 8 is it not? Can't remember off the top of my head how many DVDs are in the set.
