It's worth every penny. You're mistaken

Mi5 apart from being brilliant phone, has no European version which means lack of band LTE 20 band
#5
Looks good might need to upgrade from my iPhone 6 next year. Been Apple all my life

Anything with a snapdragon 820 can be classed as "flagship" despite mediocre specs
#9
Is there a 'warranty' on this flagship phone or there's not much you can do if this 'flag ship sinks.
#10
Reviews were really bad for that vendor if I remember correctly, I'd avoid.

What i mean is they will lower the price after that, so you can save some money.

LeEco LeMax2 has same processor, 4GB RAM instead of 3GB.
£172.43 - nearly £50 less than this. Buy through mobile site to avoid the warranty.

if you're going to shill/troll, learn how to do it properly.

is anybody supposed to believe, you'd "upgrade" a good quality phone to a chinese spyware-infested POS with no warranty? or that you'll abandon all the apps you've purchased on appstore just to be able to repurchase some of them on android?
#14
The LeEco LeMax 2 is 5.7" quite a bit bigger than this.

Don't be silly. Before you go on a mad one I said it looks good and I'm looking for an upgrade. And I haven't purchased a single app from the App Store FYI.

Doesn't work like that with Chinese phones pre-orders are often the cheapest prices by far and then they go up afterwards.
Take the elephone P8000, it was £98 from gearbest a year ago, it's not any cheaper!
If you check out old deals from 3-4 months ago you're lucky to find the phone as cheap as it was back then.

As in a benefit, or a drawback, or just different, no better no worse?

What are your thoughts? I was tempted to get it, also considered the P9000 (not lite) for £138 delivered from within UK, also the PPTV King 7 for £123 from within EU, or Lenovo K80M with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM for £102.
Finding it really difficult to make a decision, the elephone P20 at £193 with 6GB RAM also crossed my mind as did the Mi Max posted on HUKD.

The processor conundrum is vexing me as I'm split on whether to go MTK or SD.
The X20/X25 look good, but the 810 and 820 are better for benchmarks.

It's pretty good, build quality is nice but software definitely let's it down, there's a notification problem when phone enters sleep mode. Also the finger print scanner is really bad too.

There's a partial fix for notifications where you have to lock apps like WhatsApp in memory and turn battery saving features off and enable them to autostart in permissions, but it's not totally reliable still. Hopefully that will be fixed in the future.

I also found it quite laggy in certain apps with the default interactive governor, changing it to ondemand (need root) improved it a lot though.

I would only recommend it to people who like to root and tinker.

What do you mean huge?
The Mi5 is 6mm taller, but the G2 is thicker, wider and heavier.

Are you sure you're thinking of the right phone?

I researched this phone before I upgraded to my p9. The thing that put me off the most was the lack of band 20 for lte, everything else looked good apart from the questionable overseas warranty. IIRC one review said it felt like it was made from helium, it was so light (I like light phones so I liked that). Camera, while not the best, is apparantly one of, if not the best you could get at this price point and it has great battery life for a flagship. When I last looked they were going for £280 from a uk supplier off ebay but I didn,t factor in that some peeps don't get charged duty if they buy from china so if you can get it for this price and can live without 20 band lte then I reckon it's a great deal (as long as nothing goes wrong :)). edit: it has a good fingerprint scanner too.

You are sadly mistaken and incredibly ignorant to have written such an absurd statement. Xiaomi are one of the best mobile phone makers in the world, fact. Apple, sadly, can no longer compete. Not even close.

I've used Xiaomi for the last four years, I have LG, Samsung and Apple phones too, the Mi5 knocks the socks off most phones including your precious iPhone. Please read reviews before you post something quite so ignorant.
