Great games, a shame Microsoft destroyed Rare turning them into a Kinect sports factory :(

Bit late for this bundle isn't it? Anyone that wanted these games bought them 5 years ago when they first came out.

Actually quite cheap for these and as far as I remember these have never been in a marketplace sale.

Still got the original N64 versions, Brilliant games along with Conkers Bad Fur Day, DK 64 etc etc etc.

Wonder what masterpieces we would of played, loved and remembered had it been different and Microsoft didn't buy them?

Darren.

There is a website somewhere which details the games Rare were working on but were cancelled by Microsoft... It's enough to bring a nostalgic fellow to tears. Games cancelled include: Perfect Dark 2, Saberman Stampede (a racing game like Diddy Kong Racing), Kameo 2, Conkers Bad Fur Day 2 and many original titles including something with the codename "Urchin" by the team that made Conker which looked amazing.

Rare, had three separate teams, each making incredible games. Now they're down to one and literally 90% of the people who made Rare what they were have left because of the oppressive regime Microsoft had them under. Chris Seavor, the lead developer of Conker (he even voiced him) was sadly forced out by Microsoft after having 3 games in a row cancelled mid-development, I can't begin to imagine how demoralising it is to be a game developer and have everything you work on for 5 straight years cancelled.

I'll never forgive Microsoft for what they did to Rare (and for that matter the Halo franchise too), I'm kinda glad the Xbone blew up in their face... I just hope they somehow ruin the "Master Chief Collection" so there is absolutely no temptation to go back to them (they're doing a good job of ruing it by including Halo 4)

Halo 4 was fine

I always take what NeoNaf says with a pinch of salt.

That's not the article but the source (Unseen64) is the same as the article I read. All of those projects were real, they have all been commented on by former Rare employees over twitter. Microsoft shifted focus to Kinect and in the process gutted Rare, that's a fact and it's depressing to see what could have been.

Halo 4 was a terrible HALO game, it panders to the Call of Duty crowd and in the process lost what made Halo what it was (a shooter designed around map control and player skill where everyone is on an even footing). Adding loadouts, drops and perks changed the game beyond recognition, if they wanted to make something else, sure why not? but don't call it Halo. I literally played it for a weekend and never touched it again. Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the only competitive multiplayer games i played from 2004 until 2010 (3 years each).

You're probably right about Neogaf, they take themselves far too seriously, have a terrible elitist air about them and there are far too many frighteningly anime obsessed man-children.

Lots of info for cancelled projects via a quick google search.

Rare Cancelled Projects.

Crying shame :(

We played Kameo all the way through and would of loved another.

I wonder what the ex team members are doing now? I did hear a rumour some of them were getting back together via a kickstarter campaign but not checked in a while.

Darren.

I don't care about the mutiplayer. I was referring to the proper bit of the game the Single player.

I'm just sad we never got another Conker game, Bad Fur Day is still one of my personal favourite games. An actual Banjo Threeie would've been nice too, even if I liked the vehicle one, it wasn't the same.

Yeah, Conker is one of my top 10 of all time. Chris Seavor has spoken a little bit about the cancelled sequel, it will probably break your heart to learn they had a good sized Lord of the Rings (Movies) parody level. I'll cuss Microsoft until the I'm taken from this planet

Oh really? The Campaign was just as bad in my opinion! They removed large scale battles, all the levels were very linear, the new enemies were terrible and not at all fun to fight, the new guns were mostly just analogues of existing guns and worst of all the story made zero sense. I've played every halo game and the story made zero sense.
The Masterchief basically saved humanity and that one guy treats him like poop, that space walrus thing, I have no idea who he is or what his motivations are, I have no idea what happened at the end of the game.. is master chief now a space Jesus?

I say all that as someone who ranks Halo 1 as the best campaign of any game ever. EVER.

Thanks for informing us of those Conker commentary videos, I had no idea Chris had done that! I'm honestly going to watch every one!

I only bought my Xbox to play Halo combat evolved.

For me Halo 4 Master Chief and Cortana was fine.

Loved that 'game show quiz' at the end of Kazooie!
....really thought I'd finished the game, only to be punished by that quiz! Classic Rare. ;)

Banjo Kazooie is a top 10 all timer for me, an absolute classic. Members of the team (including Grant Kirkhope) were recently discussing a possible spiritual successor to Banjo Tooie under the codename Mingy Jongo, but it was confirmed cancelled earlier this year due to other commitments.

If someone set up some kind of crowd funding attempt to raise enough funds to bring together the best ex-Rare employes from the glory days to develop even just one more game, I'd be all over it.

I'd honestly throw £200 at a Kickstarter for a spiritual successor to Conker or Banjo or Diddy Kong Racing. I've bought enough Halo cat helmets in my time to feel like £200 for a game that brought Kirkhope, Mayles and Seavor together would be outstanding value. I'm deadly cereal.

Great games, currently playing through the 64 versions but they incorporated the mystery egg thing in the xbox versions so not sure that alone is worth the extra.

Biggest dagger for me was taking an amazing game like perfect dark and making zero. What was that about? Did Microsoft force that or what? I also assume they had a hand in nuts and bolts. :(.
