This TV has been posted twice before. The first time it was posted, it was by me, but it's an even better deal now. Although, for some reason, this TV has never had a good heat rating...

Actually, the last time it was posted, it was £849.99. So now there's an extra £100 saving.

"Replacing the M8 Series, the new Samsung Series 5, delivers full HD 1080p with a contrast ratio of 30:000:1 and 3 x HDMI. It consistently delivers supreme imagery, which looks great on any backdrop.

* Picture Enhancement - DNIe Plus
* Contrast - 30000 : 1
* Sound type - SRS Trusurround
* Inputs - 3xHDMI, 2xSCART, 1x Component
* Visible Screen Size - 40"

With specs like that, and at £749.99 (£729.99 with £20 voucher (AW20) - plus even more discount through Quidco, I think it's a fantastic deal.

It was £949.99 originally, but it's at this special price for the Bank Holiday only, so you'll have to be quick!

Helpful link:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=733590 (thread discussing the TV, also contains owners offering reviews)

Also, the thread above is not as confusing as it may look. There are a number of different variations, but they're simply cosmetic differences - not differences in the spec, etc.

Here's a link detailing all of the variations:

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/editorial/New+Samsung+Series+4+-+Series+5+TV+ranges?int=tvdvd_popsearch_samsung_series_4_series_5_series_6

Fantastic deal, I think. Interested to see what you think. It's getting a lot of really good, positive comments in the threads I've read.

Another really good, informative thread linked below. It's an American website, but they're talking about the same TV's. A lot of owners talking about the sets in here:

The following is a direct link to a post from the above thread. It's pictures of the posters new LE40A550 TV (same TV, different only in cosmetics), showing GTA IV on the X-Box 360. Very impressive looking.

No more links now, I promise! :-D

Just had a look around and the only review (sort of) I can find is this one: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6930542&postcount=1923

Largely because it's a new model. But it sounds like it's a much better updated version than the previous one, which was popular, not to mention good as well.

Well if someone wants to buy only a TV and not one of the packages then there is even better price for this great TV. I am not a great mathematician but I think you can get this TV for £675.25 delivered form Laskys.com. The price on their site is £729.99, but if you use Discount Codes: NWSAMF, you will get 5% discount, add to that 2.5% quidco, you get the above mentioned price. I repeat again, I am not a very good mathematician, so somebody correct me if I am wrong. Here is the link to the site - http://www.laskys.com/tv_and_dvd/lcd_tvs/lcd_tvs_40_to_45_inches/samsung_le40a557p2fxxu.html?cm_mmc=Affil-_-Tv_And_Dvd-_-Lcd_Tvs_40_To_45_Inches-_-446408_SAMSUNG_LE40A557P2FXXU&refid=affil&referred_site=ba

Very good spot, my friend. And I believe your maths is right, as well! :-D

Perhaps make this a LE40A556 thread, then? Rather than basing it solely around the Dixons deal? As we now have the cheapest TV deal (Laskys) and the cheapest TV and 5.1 Home Cinema System deal (Dixons).

And to be honest, a home cinema system is something I would've looked into further down the line, because if there's only one thing people can say against this TV, is that the sound isn't exceptional. That's the only thing that lets it down. But with the 5.1 system, you'd have the complete package.

The TV and Home Cinema System, by the way, is £789.99 after the £20 voucher - including Quidco, it's £766.30!

But I take it you can't have the voucher and Quidco savings if you buy in-store.
