There were 2 in Chester - both went some time ago - was gutted as I loved picking up cheap books there :(

I was in the one at Cheshire Oaks outlet this week and all books were 50% off. They said they were closing down next Wednesday so there may be even bigger reductions on now or before they actually closedown. HTH.

1 in abbeycentre Northern Ireland closing down for refurbishment. maybe other stores are doing the same?

Drove up to the Antrim Branch and came home with 3 bags full of books for £15, totalled up the price of the book and there is over £800 worth of books. I am a primary school teacher and got loads of stuff, so a huge thank you to poster!

The Works in Uxbridge has just made a return after selling it to another company a few years back. I'm glad :)

Anyone know if the Belfast branches are staying? In short term, sale would be good, but we always get NI calendars there every year!

The branch in Cambridge has Closing Down signs and a countdown but on the inside it says they are closing down to be refurbished.

Portadown branch also running a sale. All books discounted about half heavily and when you get to the till it's a further 50% off.I thought I got a good deal but yours is great!Might be worth a drive up.Was there a lot of stock left and how big was the bag you fill?Did the store give you one or do you bring your own?

It appears that the store is now officially closed now for refurbishment... the shop supplied the bags, which were quite large and there appears to be stock remaining which comes as a surprise . I can only assume each branch will follow suit and reopen and trade under "THE WORKS" hence the refurb. Hope this is of help and save u a wasted journey. Kevjosant

Many businesses that are on the slippery slop will "blag" that a branch is being shut down for refurbishment, when they know full well it's likely to shut.. to keep customers thinking it's a going concern incase they find a way to re-open..

I doubt that's the case here though, as they are funded by Endless who have $ coming out of their ar.....

Bargain books have officially been bought over by THE WORKS and all stock will be sold as per post , Ballymena branch are currently receiving Antrim branches left over stock and will be doing the same as per post .
