sourced from the daily fail, but i visited Aldi in Alloa today and got 2 bottles. Its reputed to be worth 2-3 times that price so we'll see. source :

I'm half tempted to check what that 30yo speyside is, but I don't think there's an Aldi south of London...

Aldi's wines and spirits are extremely good
value already but they have announced
that they are going upmarket to attract a
class of person that like even better wines
etc. Maybe this is the start of it.

You're quite right, there's one within 15 miles which surprises me as I'm sure they were 50+miles last time I looked after seeing a deal on here (admittedly a couple of years back, maybe more) so I assumed they were all up north like Home Bargains etc. Still a fair walk for a bottle of whisky though :)

Bought this last time round in March (ish) this year. Very nice and well worth the 30 quid and more.

They've got 30 year old port for £29.99 also. And not too far from the door!

I confirm the brandy is perfectly quaffable. hic!

How does it compare to a Remy Martin?

I've managed to get a bottle of the 1973 brandy :) - thought it was worth it before it sells out! I am not sure whether it would really retail at £107...but that said its seems likely to be a steal at this price and I was surprised there were any bottles left in store. This review from last year sung its praises: http://www.bacononthebeech.com/2012/12/aldi-1973-vintage-bordeaux-naploeon.html

Cheapo - very smooth, to the point of almost being too smooth! Nice though and not overpowering like a cheaper brandy. Definitely an easy drinking tipple for a cold winters evening!

I can never find this deal :(

Ooh, brought back a tawny port from Oz, which had been bottled in the year of my parents marriage and they loved it. Wish I had seen this thread then.

I recommend their Southerrn Belle Bourbon & Orange liqueur, £9.99 a bottle, can't stop drinking the stuff, straight over ice!
