I agree a great TV, bought mine about a month ago, got it from Richer Sounds for £699 (shop display model)but they no longer have stock and old web links no longer work and can't see it listed there.

Web site I found really useful for optimising picture set up is (http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Sharp-LC42XD1E/) It's also a very full review.

I would still buy at this price as it's great value.

I just got the 46" and it's great TV. Go via topcashback and get 6% back too which brings it down to only just over £700.
#3
Reduced by £549 and they still make a profit :w00t:
Seems quite a good price though for the spec
#4
Nice price, though it looks like ti doesn't have a dedicated component connection, apparently there is a dongle to connect component via the vga input.
voted hot anyway

Agree this is a lovely tv. Have had the LC42XD1E since last January and have been very please with it.

Has the banding issue that was prevalent on the 42XD1E model been sorted in this one?

does any one knows what's the period of coverplan is

You can also purchase the 46" Model LC46XD1E from Sharp for £950 using discount code 0846XD1, I belive this has already been posted on this site, but when you sign on to Sharps site it does not show the discount code for this television, but it still works. A friend of mine has the 42" version, he picked his after looking at nearly every tv going. I have to admit I do like the Panasonic, but my purhcase this as it is a great price.

whats the different between the two:
Image Contrast Ratio 1200:1
Dynamic Contrast Ratio 6000:1
?
#13
what warranty do they offer???
#14
Beware that this TV is incompatible with the XBox 360 when using the component (ie VGA via adaptor) input. You get random 3-second black screens, might get 3 in a day then not see another blackout for ages, it's completely random! A known 'foible' with the XD1E range.

I sent mine back to John Lewis for this reason only, marvellous TV apart from this. Although the price at John Lewis (including 5 year guarantee) briefly dipped to £799 back in September before rising again. 2 new models have replaced this set by the way.

There is no problem with the newer HDMI equipped Xbox's. It was just a strange clash when connecting via component.

This is an amazing TV, one of the best.

It's a different way to meassure the contrast ratio, many would say Dynamic is a cheating method. It's also not the "be all and end all" to seeing if a TV is a good one. This isn't the place for debating the methods but if you are interested in understanding why it's no more a meassure of a good TV than a larger pixel count is a way to meassure a good digital camera then take a look at...

I've noticed no banding on the one I own and the reviews I've seen say that it isn't an issue.

Sharp offer a 1 year period as standard. They offer longer at extra cost but not at good prices imo.

Just ordered one. Thanks OP:thumbsup:

p.s. anyone who has ordered one of these already, could you let me know how long the delivery time was please, cheers

Looks like they do a free wall mounting installation too worth £199 using code FREEINSTALL (details are on the page of the link above).

I didn't use this code at the time of ordering the TV, so don't know how it works and don't wan't mine wall mounted anyway, but may be of use to someone.

Thanks OP :)

Bought one of these; the wife saw the picture of the manual half way down this page :

She thought it was the box the TV comes in and said, 'Blimey, it is thin isn't it.'

Comedy gold :p

I only ordered last night as I was so sick of my other half 'dillying and dallying' about which one to get - glad I did now :-D

Just a note to everyone, after missing this I thought that I'd put my email in to be notified when they were back in stock (fat chance I thought).

Well they are BACK, the discount code still works so still at £750. Also, not sure if anyone's mentioned but you can get 6.5% Cashback if you go through topcashback.co.uk.

Just placed my order!

Yes, mentioned topcash already - mine has tracked as £26.25! (Paid with Captial One card too for an extra 4% cashback, making my TV under £700 )

Had confirmation from Sharp that our new TV has been dispatched and is with Citylink ready for delivery Monday - can't wait ;-)

Mine was delivered yesterday too, its still sat in my living room in the sorry state that it arrived in. City Link have mucked this one up, they left it outside somewhere in the rain for quite some time by the looks of things and the box arrived soaked through and dented too (have some lovely pics but don't know how to upload yet!) My replacement is being sent today! Sharp have been great, their CS dept have answered emails straight away, so I would recomment them too. Can't say anything good about City Link though, even the driver didn't have a good word for them! :whistling:

Replacement arrived yesterday. This has got to be the best value 42" TV around at the moment by far!! Xbox 360 and Wii are just so much better on this screen than the old 28" we have had for years. The men folk in my house are chuffed to bits, thanks OP.
