BOGOF on a bike? Hmmm ...
Why would one person want two bikes? I'd rather it half price personally.

I take it you are single then, or don't know anyone who might want to go halves on the bikes or something... it's a perfectly good deal! Voted hot

Great deal! i was thinking about buying this bike for £100 when it was previously posted, but now only a bit more for 2 bikes. This bike is selling for over £200 for one bike at other online shops.
#4
Would this be suitable for me if i'm 5"10 ?

I'm crap with bike sizes!
#5
Thats a great find! Less than £62 per bike delivered, that is an excellent deal. Rep added.
#6
Yeah, it is a good deal. But why coerse people to buy two, when they really only want one?
I voted hot though, as it is a good deal (if you want two bikes)
#7
Unless you like riding a sponge, you are better off with a rigid or hard-tail bike at this price range. Full suspension bikes really dont work very well unless you are paying £500+, they are simply too heavy and cheaply constructed. Still, very interesting deal and hot price for what it is (component set is markedly better than on the £50-£60 bikes)...
#8
for what it is doesn't look like a bad deal..

I agree with jah128 though, at this price I wouldn't go for a bike with rear suspension..

dixons are doing a deal where you get a free bike with certain products
this is one of them
#10
I found this site trying to sell them for £229.99 (Currently out of stock).

It has an minimum inside leg measurement of 28" so i bought it and went half's with my uncle! Cheers to the OP.

Looking for a bike for both me and my missus and this seems to be a good deal but i have no idea about bike sizes... Im 6ft tall, would this be suitable or is it more a teens bike? :whistling:

Yes this would be suitable for you, as this is a full-size bike.

yes i agree that a £60 rrp bike with full suspension will be terrible, but this is being sold for £230 else where, so i imagine this will be much better quality and a better bike, also it is a known brand - barracuda.
#14
nice one :D seems like a great deal then for the odd ride once in a while lmfao

"Dixons are giving this 24 speed Barracuda Response bike free with selected products. Although you can buy one of these bikes and get another one for free."

You don't happen to know where the other "selected products" are do you. I could do with the bike but dont need 2.

They're a business, they're not coercing anyone into buying anything, they're advertising something for sale. Products on sale in supermarkets at half price sell under half in comparison to products that are BOGOF, people prefer BOGOFs.

Not very cheap products with the free bike I'm afraid. Only good if you were already considering buying one of the products.

And if no one wants the free one I'll have it.
#19
yeah better getting the deal even if you dont want 2 and floggin the other one.. at that price you cant go wrong!
#20
Looking at it a bit more you do get an awful lot for £125, voted hot. Just a pity its not a hardtail, but will be ideal I'm sure for some people.
#21
The people buying it (like myself if I could find someone else!) won't know what a hardtail is, so it won't factor for us. :p

Does that mean it has no suspension or something?
#22
'Hard-tail' just has front suspension forks, and a 'rigid' has no suspension. The problem with the cheaper 'full-sus' (where you have forks at front and a shock\coil at the back) is the are made from lots and lots of steel and there isn't the money left for decent front forks/components.

The component set on this bike (if you look at it as £62) is actually really quite good for the money - decent gears and brakes for the money, the forks are very basic (and heavy) but will work.

So basically it will be quite a comfortable bike for getting around town (if your town is flat) and country trails, but its heavy so you'll do more work and hills are a bit of a nightmare; don't expect to take it to a proper XC/downhill track though!

Also good as a spare bike/town bike if you don't want your nice bike to get nicked/damaged!

This bike has a size 18 frame. As you are six foot tall you would need a size 20 frame at least

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago (from currys) for my wife, she was only going to be using it for light road and hard tracks. However when I received it, it didn't come with the spec advertised. Please note the following changes

Shimano 24 Speed Acera Gears are advertised but bike supplied with SRAM 24 speed gears.

Shimano EF-29 EZ-Fire Shifters are advertised but bike has been supplied with Grip Shift gears.

Zoom CH-396 Adjustable suspension Fork replaced with Zoom 580 Tracker Non Adjustable Fork.

I have complained to currys and they have offered to refund me for the bike.

That's one of the craziest things I've read! BOGOF are best for the company not the customer. If the company make a product half price people can just buy one but if they make it BOGOF it means the customer has to get two and the company get's twice the money and shifts twice the product when you compare against half price. Think about it, if it was half price you can get however many you actually need so if you wanted two you could get two and it would be the same as BOGOF, therefore half price will always be better than BOGOF for the customer!
#27
does one need 24 gears? lol
#28
I think this is one of the better looking full susp bikes Ive seen, some look very strange but this looks balanced(ish).

How does 19.5kg stack up with budget bikes, is it light or heavy?, IF its alloy frame I would think lighter than most ?

Good idea to state on here where you live and say that you are thinking about buying one (two) and wait till someone else offers to go halves with you.

any1 know how long this offer is on for?

Having looked around, 19.5kg does seem heavy, even if it was a steel framed bike. Does make you wonder if they got the 'Alloy frame' part of the spec wrong as well. If mine turns up and it's steel, it's going back.

Steel is an alloy - iron and carbon!

Thats a good point, also they have described the bike parts as alloy and not aluminium so far as I can see.

Good luck and happy riding to those that get it
#37
so they've made a mistake on certain components, but these are correct (as delivered) as that advertised on other websites - so hopefully the frame is actually aluminium. As for the rest, perhaps they're willing to offer a further discount.

not likely as Dixons is online only now. No high St shops as they all turned into currys digitals.
