Do you think it's worth upgrading the processor?

What other upgrades would you recommend?

This is really best for those wanting just a basic notebook, I think there are better deals for more money without having to upgrade stuff.

Careful upgrading this ecode with extra ram, bigger cpu and dvdrw etc as this one is much better value imo if you go that route http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/127287/dell-vostro-1000-notebook-tl60-2gig/all/all/discussed/

So would this laptop go out of stock because I want to order the laptop tonight.
#27
I wouldn't recommend the Vista option on this laptop, yeah it looks pretty and its the latest OS but this laptop doesn't have enough memory for Vista

Then again i wouldn't recommend XP Home either lol

Vista needs at least 2gb RAM

PS MikeT.............do you work for Dell? ;-)

Thanks a lot Mike! Been looking for a basic laptop for my dad for a while.

Anyone think its worth adding the AMD® Athlon 64 X2 Mobile Technology TK55 processor for only £35 more? Brings the price to £269.

Sorry i maybe worded it wrong............I wasnt sayin it wouldnt work with XP home or that it wouldnt work with Vista basic

It will work with Vista basic but performance wise for this spec you would be better off with XP Home.

As for XP home i just dont like it when compared with XP Pro :)
