Basmati Rice (Badshah brand) 5kg for £5.00 @Asda

Saw this in Asda Hatfield and bought a few bags. But seems its nationwide (available online).
Rice is the staple foodstuff in my house so I'm always looking out for the best basmati prices - this is a bargain at £1 per kilo.

I can tell you from experience this brand is good, and is used in a lot of restaurants and take-aways. I know, Tilda usually regarded as best but very expensive normally.

Yeah 5 times the price per kilo, great.....

Honestly, basmati rice is basmati race, indians would laugh at you for spending £5 on a kilo of rice.

When you say better rice, is it because you tried it or because its promoted/advertised/percieved to be a better rice?

Personally, I think its over rated.
As a Bangladeshi as can tell you that me, my family, my relatives, and the majority of all the people I know who run Indian reataurants and takeaways do not use Kohinoor. Tilda maybe, where the menu price covers the extra cost, but not Kohinoor.

But I suppose everyone has their own opinion, fair enough.

Looks like I made a mistake I thought the Tesco one was for 1kg. Nobody's that bad at maths.

be careful to watch the till price ....

I bought some of this in Asda's Blackburn store last week and was charged £28 at the till! Customer Services refunded the difference, but a £23 overprice is very excessive and I do wonder how many people didn't notice.

Haven't tried it yet, so cannot comment on the actual rice.

The link takes you to the page showing Asda's full range of rice.
It's the 3rd one along from the left....

It depends on your nearest branch, you can see it if you dont log in but if you do it may not be there.

For those that don't know, these would be kept in the Asian or World Foods aisle, and not in the usual rice/pasta section.
So I think I'd be right in saying that if in your local store there's no Asian section, then no Asian branded rice.

Tesco also doing it at this price, if you don't have an Asda that stocks it.

Thanks H&R :)

Heated. My mum just made the badshah pakistani rice and she says they take less water than normal and cook faster. they also do not clump together. excellent quality, buy, buy, buy before they run out.
