how to you know this?

The Major Nelson link is in his post.

"Plus, each weekend in March will bring a new discounted Games on Demand title"
#3
Still showing as £34.99 for me. Did Major Nelson lie about the deals being 'available in all Games for Windows supported regions' - not just the US?...
#4
Ok yes, It took the guys at GFWL time to wake themselves up and sort this deal but its there now as promised. sorry about the confusion over this topic which i accidentally expired  but anyway fixed thankyou mods

Yeah this is quite a good deal because 940 points are actually 7.99, 1000 points will set you back 8.50. So you could save even more with that route. this is if you paid RRP for them. Which luckily most people dont, if you get them a little cheaper it costs even less. I exploited a hole in a GAME voucher a while back where 2100 points cost me 8 pounds each so stocked up :w00t:

Wow, bargain!
I got 2100 for £15, so yeah, that would make it cheaper for me too :) (£7.something)
Still not sure if I want it for my PC, but heat added.

There was a 10 pound off voucher for orders over 80 pounds i recall. So you just added the points which were like 17.99, and then added some expensive pre orders you didnt really want to the same order, then cancelled them afterwards and the tenner still got taken off the points card lol. Its a glitch that happens sometimes on GAME. I also ended up seperately preordering a whole bunch of games for a year ahead and getting a tenner off them all :w00t: I dont think i have paid more than 29.99 for a new game since last august, and most my Pc games were 15 quid!

This is a very good port to PC if you have any doubts. It works perfect with a 360 pad, just like playing on a 360 with enhanced graphics if you have anything resembling a halfway decent gaming PC. Because it is based on Unreal Engine 3, it has modest requirements- a friend plays this buttery smooth on a five year old single core pentium 4 3.6ghz and a 50 quid radeon 4670 with 2GB of RAM. Its really very forgiving- try the demo.

I used my 360 pad for this and I had the PC version. This price is a STEAL for a game of this quality
#12
Does the "games for windows live" mean this will link/sync with your xbox 360 achievements?

Yes it does you sign in via your xbox live account :)

I'd go with consoles as they will have a resale value where as a PC download will have non. Have played it on PC though and it's very good!

I been looking for this last week when it was £11.99 with gameplay but it was out of stock, though its back in stock now. However this is a better deal I'm just downloading it in gfwl. I'm not to concerned about resale value.

these kind of games are better played with dualstick controllers.

Get yourself a 360 controller and use it with the PC. It works great.

Thanks OP.

i never trade games in, you dont get any money for them anyway. and i generally buy when they're 6-12 months old, so i pay very little for them in the first place, so this isnt my concern.

Just paying more for less DRM. if, however its only £15ish on ps3/360 for it, i might be swayed to pay more!
#23
This is an absolute cracking bargain, the game is superb.

About keyboard/mouse on the PC, that is how I play it and they have actually done a really good job of it, so if you do not have a 360 controller (and it does need a 360 controller specifically), don't worry about it, the game controls are fine with k/b and mouse.

I'd much rather be limited to five activations a month than have to swap discs in and out manually.

What's Games for Windows Live On Demand like as a service? Any gotchas like limited numbers of downloads or long startup times?
#25
Fabulous game and superior on the PC to the console versions if your rig can maintain a decent resolution and 60FPS. H+R.
#26
This has nvidea physics also which is a bonus if you have capable card!

Any core 2 or athlon X2 with an nvidia 9600GT/GSO can manage this very nicely with AA. If you have an 8800GT or better you can just about squeeze out physx acceleration too
#28
Funnily enough, an hour before seeing this deal I played through the demo.
Promptly signed up and downloaded....about to play through it now!

GREAT DEAL....now if only they could bring the other prices down to something NEAR sanity!!!!!
Thanks.

There are no restrictions to number of install etc. as it's linked to your account like steam, you can insall on as many machines as many times as you like. And yes it runs well on modest hardware.

I thought my 9600gt would handle physx, but it says hardware not compatible. I have heard of the 9600gt having physx enabled with some version!

9600GT is at the low end for physx acceleration in games, but it should work as long as you have recent updated drivers
