"Why so cold?" Where is this title cheaper at present?

Welcome to HotUKDeals, jumpthegap.

A good start to your membership that has unfortunately dropped below zero because some members vote deals cold without giving a reason.

Hope this doesn't put you off too much for future listings.

Some of GAME's prices are very competitive; on occasion cheaper than other parties but, yes, like any other retailer, you have to be aware of prices elsewhere if considering a purchase to ensure you are getting a better deal.

GAME's in-store price can often be more expensive than the online price, but in some cases (like the one being described here), the in-store price is cheaper due to a regional promotion or a specific store reducing a product's price.

The in-store prices are not affected by the online prices & vice-versa. Gameplay (GB) Limited operate the three web sites,,, &

The advantage with ordering online at GAME is the level of QuidCo incentive, & the fact that pre-ordering offers double Reward Card (loyalty card scheme) points. You are awarded 10 points for every £1 spent in-store or online. Every 1000 points earned provides a discount of £2.50 on items (except gift cards or downloads). Pre-orders offer 20 points for every £1 spent.

I also make use of their pre-order pricing policy. You are charged a lower price if the price at which the item was pre-ordered subsequently falls prior to despatch. If the price increases, the price stated at the time of pre-ordering is held.

Additionally, I have found that pre-ordering from GAME often means I receive items prior to their high street availability; in one instance four days before a particular title was available. On every occasion pre-ordered items have arrived before, or on, the date of release.

Finally, with one exception (most recently when I contacted them about the Collector's Edition of "Batman: Arkham Asylum", coincidentally), I have found their Customer Services team to be very prompt & helpful. A couple of times they have telephoned me to discuss aspects of items I have ordered. One instance comes to mind immediately; when I ordered the GAME Exclusive Collector's Edition of "Soul Calibur IV" [PS3]. By mistake, the packing team had despatched the standard edition of the title, & before it reached me I was contacted to apologise & to relay that the additional content was going to be sent immediately under separate cover. Most organisations would either not notice, or would simply respond via e-mail after I had received the delivery.

In fact, Gamestation's team is the same. They rang me once to apologise for not being able to deliver the (then, Exclusive to Gamestation) Collector's Edition of "Quantum of Solace" in time for the release date.

Yes, you can walk into a GAME (or Gamestation) store & not buy anything because you know that the items are (far) cheaper elsewhere, but you can also do that in HMV,, Asda, or any retailer that sells video games. The prices of video games in HMV in Central London are laughable they are so high, for example, but people (with too much money) still buy them.

PS. "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is £34.93 at presently.

Possibly. Also, maybe if jumpthegap could scan the store receipt (removing any pertinent payment details) & provide an image within a comment this may influence the voting.
