From the producers of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight comes Batman: Gotham Knight.

Bridging the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and directed by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), Batman: Gotham Knight taps into the work of three, pioneering anime studios (Production I.G., Studio 4C, and Madhouse) and five noted anime directors (Shojiro Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, and Toshiyuki Kubooka) to create a thrilling anthology of six interrelated, animated shorts based on stories by Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), Greg Rucka (Whiteout), Jordan Goldberg (The Dark Knight), and Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets).

Happy to help :D
Seen it a while ago and enjoyed it, it's more like a collection of animated shorts (some better than others) than a film/films.
My favourite was the one shown in the 1st screenshot above.

Sounds like it compliments the dark knight films the way that the animatrix shorts complimented the matrix films

Never properly watched Animatrix, but it was probably more related to the Matrix films than this is to the Nolan films. I have certain issues with them (despite the first two being excellent in their own way), these are not really similar and probably display Batmans characteristic's a bit better. Individual stories really, it's more a collabaration with Manga/Anime animation artists (who imo tend to be better than Western ones - more style and fluidity).
