Seemed like a good deal to me as yesterday my local Gamestation wanted £20 for this title.

Stock is obviously store specific, but I would expect a few copies floating about if it's in this offer.

Worth noting you're not guaranteed that the VIP map codes bundled will work (although mine DID), however, if you don't want the extra maps, or want to buy them at a later date for around £10 from Live/PSN you can.

[First deal, hope I did everything right. Please go softly.]

#Edit# After installing my copy, I gave the VIP code a go, and it had NOT been used. So I also got the DLC! Bonus! :D

"COLD COLD COLD" To buy the VIP code would be £10 so whats the point, might as well buy new for £22.94 with the VIP code!!

And if you're not interested in the DLC? I have no problem with this game without it.

That one doesn't have the code either? It's not an online pass thing like other recent EA titles, just the DLC bundled. If you don't want the DLC, or can wat until it's cheaper on PSN/Live then this is a good deal.

Not really a lot of point buying it without the VIP code, well maybe if your happy to play a short game & you have no friends!! ....... :-/

*edit* My bundled VIP code worked. WooHoo. Well worth £12.95 for this great game and all the DLC if you ask me!

My bad. Seen limited edition packs too which say "VIP CODE" on the box. Hmmm.
Still seems good if you don't care about the extra few maps though?

Maybe your right, its just that if i buy something secondhand i expect to pay a secondhand price, so a £22.94 game minus a £10 code = £12.94, then maybe take of £5 for it being secondhand, so i myself would not pay more than £7.94 for it, but thats just me, there are obviously people out there that think this is a good deal so good for them!! :)

It's playable online without VIP and in my case I only ever played the online once and then never went back anyway. I really liked the SP campaign but the MP just didn't do it for me.
#13
I bought this game on release, redeemed the VIP code, but sold it a few months ago. If i bought a secondhand copy would my original VIP code still be linked to my PSN ID or would i need another VIP code?

Thanks

Great price.

Its very clear that all retailers are trying to get what they can for these games before black ops comes out.

I know wot you mean, it does start of hard in multiplayer because everyone else seems to have better weapons, but if you can put a squad together with 3 of your friends & your in a party, stick with it & it really does get to be awsome as you unlock more weapons, gadgets & specs. It deffo gets better the longer you play it multiplayer.
#16
You're not missing out at all without a VIP code imo - it's just existing maps that are playable in different game modes.
#17
I have been looking out for a cheap copy of this game but was unaware of any codes.....

So to clarify, i assume the normal online side of things is available to all regardless of any codes, and the VIP code simply gives access to some extra maps / weapons etc, in the same way optional DLC would?

Yeah, the VIP gives you access to EXISTING maps in other multiplayer game modes. Other than that you're not missing out on a thing.

There are 6 map packs for VIP members. Each of these has 2 existing maps that can be played in a different game mode. For example map pack 1 has Nelson Bay for the Rush mode and Laguna Alta for Conquest.

Well you are because otherwise it's just a bare bones selection.
#20
To play online you will need to purchase a VIP code, i know because i borrowed it off my brother but couldnt play online because he already used the code that comes with it.
#21
Good price! but watch out if you do indeed wish to play online with buddies... otherwise you'll keep getting error message when trying to join their matches!

If you manage to get the VIP code with it then even better!

If you do get this and play online - check out the HUKD clan thread:

Yes, it's tied to your PSN logon.

The problem was that all of my friends had the PS3 version and I had it for the 360 so I didn't really get into it anyway.

I'm not a military shooter person tbh, MW2 irritates me and when I did try this it seemed a little too hardcore for my tastes. I prefer Halo because I find it easier to just jump into the odd game here and there and have a laugh.
#25
Wonder if they'd take it back if the VIP code doesn't work?

Not true. I rented this (XBOX Version) from Boomerang, No VIP code and online play worked fine. You will not be able to use a VIP that has allready been used, but you do not need a VIP code to play.
#27
If you are mainly getting it for online play then it's probably not for u.

The VIP code doesn't stop u playing online, it just limits it. I think it's EA's way of trying to force people to buy new as most of the stuff it unlocks is already on the disc

It is a good game though
#28
The DLC codes are linked to your account, because I bought BFBC2, used the code, sold it, bought it back at a later date and still had the maps, one of my friends bought it used and the code worked, and I have bought other used games such as The Saboteur and the DLC codes still work for some reason

£14.95 in store in stockton on tees and out of stock

Online there are 4 modes. Rush which is you trying to arm explosives on boxes or protect and disarm them. Conquest where you capture flags and try and keep control of them. Squad Rush which is a smaller version of Rush and Squad Death Match which is just killing the other team.

Built in you get 4 modes on 4 maps:

Conquest on:
Panama Canal, Atacama Desert, White Pass, Laguna Presa

Rush on:
Valparaiso, Isla Innocentes, Africa Harbour, Port Valdez

Squad Rush on:
Panama Canal, Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Port Valdez

Squad Death Match on:
Isla Innocentes, Africa Harbour, White Pass, Laguna Presa

The VIP code adds 6 packs of two modes each so additionally you'll have

Conquest:
Laguna Alta, Africa Harbour, Port Valdez, Nelson Bay
Rush:
Nelson Bay, Laguna Presa, Atacama Desert, White Pass
Squad Rush:
Laguna Alta, Laguna Presa
Squad Death Match:
Nelson Bay, Panama Canal

The packs came out over a few months and it says there may be more stuff to come, but it might all be out there by now, or maybe you'll get additional modes for the Vietnam DLC which is coming.

Was very lucky to pick this up at HMV preowned for £9.98 the other week - think they had accidently mispriced it as BC1!

the vip code isnt for online play it just gives you a few extra maps or modes when you do go online. the code is single use and linked to your user account on your ps3

I have no interest whatsoever in playing on the internet, and as for friends - a person is a sad person indeed if he calls online gaming buddies "friends"
The problem i have with this is the "pre-owned" thing.
I once bought a pre-owned Blockbuster dvd of Batman dark Knight. It was unplayable. The feller sent another. THAT was unplayable too
#34
PhilK, you can also have real people you know as "friends" or "gaming buddies" as you call them to play online with.... lol
#35
icecold! a month ago one could buy it NEW for 2 pence cheaper... you can still get it NEW for 1 quid more

Anyone know trade in prices for this at hmv, asda etc...

Don't know HMV or ASDA trades but CEX give £14 on PS3 or £12 on 360
Obviously GameStation's trade policy means they'll match and add a pound, so even if you trade it in after a week it'll make you somewhere between 5p and 2 quid.
In the spirit of HotUKDeals I'd say a shiny free 5p is a thumbs up. X)

I can't comment on the quality of Xbox 360 games from Blockbuster, but Blu-Rays have a scratch resistance far stronger than DVD, and so, pre-owned PS3 titles are on the whole don't suffer disc wise.

Looked around some more for you, again, not HMV or ASDA but Argos will give you £10 on PS3 or £13 on 360 according to their online price guide
