Free map pack 7 is out today. Huuuge 1.64gig download. Four new maps and tweaks to some of the weapons making shotguns more powerful close up, more splash damage and vehicle damage to the AT4, less splash damage for the Carl Gustav, and red dot now allowed on the G3 and E14. M60 made a bit less of a monster, F2000 improved.

That's a lot of meaninless drivel for most.

Vietnam maps coming out on the 21st of December.

EDIT: Forgot to say that you can delete update #2 when you download #3, which will save half a gig of xbox space.

Brilliant game which sadly has been overlooked due to COD. I bought Black Ops and then bought this game on the PS3 after much deliberation and I don't regret it. All I would say is iv played more of BC2 than Black Ops. Black Ops is good don't get me wrong, but there's something about BC2 that makes you go back to it again and again. Also when you play as the different classes (assault, medic, engineer or recon 'sniper'), they make you play differently and it feels like you are playing as those classes. Whereas with COD all the classes feel the same. With the extras included, at this price its a steal!!!

Is this game suitable for someone who dare I say it a 'noob' to play online? I like the idea of playing online but the idea of playing with hardcore players puts me off as I'd probably get killed from the get go. I'm not a bad shot with these games but I'm def no sharpshooter.

I would say yes,
you can get points just for spotting enemies and you get more rewarded for working with your team, rather then running off by yourself

it certainly is a lot more "noob" friendly in my opinion this game is twice as good as black ops for multi-player - black ops and to some extent modern warfare 2 are far too fast paced - u spawn u run round non stop and hopefully get a kill before u get killed then respawn and repeat ..in Bad company 2 u can go through a whole match with one life if your careful - plus there's the destructible environments (houses fall down etc) and all the vehicles u can interact with.

You'd do much better than with COD. Basically COD isn't about team work and this is and while you're learning the ropes there's a fair chance that you'll help your squad and they'll help you even if it's just you dropping an ammo box somewhere or being further towards the front line so they can spawn on you.

What you must do is:

Don't play as a fekkin sniper, especially at the start. There are good ones but most snipers in the game are rubbish and don't capture flags or plant bombs or spot (more in a bit) and just want to get 'sikkk killlzzz' from across the map. In your squad of four if you find there are three snipers and nobody is talking just press start, leave squad and look for another one, or even drop out of the game.

Spot. Looking down your sigts at someone and press the 'select' or 'back' button on your pad. They get an arrow above them telling everyone on your side to kill them. It works for men, tanks, helicopters, jeeps - anything that needs sorting out with violence.

The engineer class is really easy to rank up with because you can get loads of points just repairing tanks. If you've got somebody else in the tank firing the machine gun you can jump out and fix it while they're still killing, and vice versa. Engineers also have lovely rocket launchers to make other tank's lives misery.

If you're the basic assault class when you unlock smoke grenades then use them. They really turn the tide so you can arm a bomb inside a cloud or disarm it without people knowing just where to shoot. The normal rifle grenades aren't brilliant for killing but great for punching holes in walls making it easier to get to a bomb - then change to smoke when you die or make sure somebody else has smoke for arming or disarming.

The back/select button also allows you to ask for ammo, health, repair when you point at your own team and press it. But hopefully you'll be wearing a bloody microphone. When people on your squad talk your kills double and capturing objectives trebles.

If you've played other Battlefield games then you get an extra gun and some unlocks straight away without having to earn them, and it is great for getting you started as a medic or engineer. Google "Battlefield veteran".

And if you see a medic die and you're not a medic if the coast is clear stand over their body, switch classes by picking up their 'kit', select the defibrilators and bring them back to life. This is especially important on attack.

But most importantly is don't be a lazy idiot standing back and tring to get your kill / death ratio big. Run in and arm and disarm and don't give a damn about dying as it's all about winning game and not stupid personal glory. When there's 15 seconds before your bomb goes off, you're dead and watching the 3 snipers alive on your team sitting in a bush sipping tea from their thermos flasks while you respawn - that's when you'll realise what wins and loses this game.

Is BC2 worth getting for the singleplayer campaign?
#15
Personally, I thought BC2 campaign was better than MW2, but if you only want that you don't want this version, you want one of the cheap ones without all the extra MP stuff.

This is the thing I love about BC2 players...they give advise to newbies who might be thinking about playing BC2. All I hear from COD players is 'Its a wicked game' and no constructive advice given on what to do and how to do. That 'How Not To Be A Noob' video brilliantly puts it into perspective of how much difference there is between BC2 and COD. After watching the video a while back, i knew BC2 was the game for me.

Definitely , its pretty damn good fun . Managed to get a Platinum , best FPS on console by a huge margin . The new maps from yesterday are excellent , especially Cold War.

Forgot to add this: your engineer repair tool damages tanks if the enemy is in them. Don't think that because you've run out of rockets that tank is now unstoppable. Landmines stay on the ground forever, even if you die. If you're starting a round and know tanks are going to come rolling then pepper a few in high traffic areas, hopefully get somebody to put an ammo box next to you so you can do it some more before you die. Feel free to change to a different weapon when you die. Six minutes later when you get "Vehicle Damage 30 - Destroy Vehicle 100 - Double Kill 100" pop up you'll be scratching your head thinking why the hell am I getting these points... oh hell yes! Conversely if you're in a tank, especially the machine gun then spot mines and shoot the damn things, hopefully you'll have a mike and your cries of "stop the fekkin tank!!" will be heeded. Your mines are clever and know not to blow up your tanks so don't worry about where you throw them, but hidden in grass or mud is better than blatantly in the open... unless that's a trick to make them steer away from the main road into the grass that has even more mines in it.

Think dirty.

With all the recent deals for BC2 and the positive comments about the game, finally nabbed a copy whilst in town today.

Was going to buy a pre-owned copy for £18 from Gamestation but thought I would check prices in Blockbuster first as I suspected, a la the recent (mis-priced?) COD2 pre-owned deal, they may have it for less.

Lo and behold, they had a copy of BC2 Ultimate Edition for, as hoped, £13 or 2 for £18.

As it was only an additional £5, picked up a copy of Super SF IV as this was the only other game in this deal that appealed.

Got to the till and, unfortunately, it wouldn't scan at the price marked but at the higher deal price of either £18 or 2 for £28. At this point, the helpful girl nudged the Manager to ask what to do.

He was blunt (but polite) and said that it was mis-priced on the shelf and that, legally, he could refuse to sell it to me, withdraw it from sale and then re-display it at the correct price.

However, he said, to be fair, he would split the £10 difference with me and would sell the pair of games to me for £23.

I gently tried to nudge him to £20 but no joy and with a queue forming by now decided to go for it seeing as about 10mins earlier I was prepared to pay £18 for just BC2 alone from Gamestation.

Overall, still think it wasn't a bad price.

Thought I would share as, you never know, other Blockbusters may also have it mis-priced and the store may honour the price.
