Good price.

Bought this Friday. It's really good.

I remember buying modern warfare 2 a few months back and being fairly underwhelmed.

This is really impressive by comparison. Both the graphics and audio are loads more interesting.

Played the first bit for 15 mins

Does it get any better

No impressed so far, you just follow a set path and tasks just like following a story with a bit of running and shooting along the way WOW:thinking:

Perfer Borderlands

All FPS games are basically generic shooters with generic storylines. This game is all about the multiplayer.

I did think the campaign was awesome though, less OTT than modern warfare, and actually takes the **** out of the modern warfare series, which is pretty funny.

Borderlands was fun, for the first 10 hours or so then I realised it was just a repetitive grind.

Pretty much every game you see these days has a completely scripted campaign mode. MW2 being the biggest over user of scripted scenarios.

This isnt a single player game , it never has been . Its always been about the Multiplayer . Just think of the singleplayer campaign as a kind of testing ground to get you used to the weapons controls etc then start the real game , play with friends whom use headsets and work together and you will get the full potential from the game . Enjoy .

Yeah I'd agree that most 1st person shooters are usually fairly linear by design, but battlefield 2 has a wide playing field.

I was and still am really impressed with borderlands too, as I like open world, sandbox style stuff. Doing the dr ned zombie island dlc currently.

You just love to troll dont you?

First a PS3 fanboi, now a CoD fanboi. Well heres a nice fact. There have been plenty of Modern Warfare style games around before CoD picked it up. Battlefield 2 for example is one of the early ones back in 2005. Gost Recon games and Rainbow Six games have been out for years too, all based around modern combat.

The fact is, CoD 4 and MW2 are wannabe's of the Modern Combat era, and the only reason behind its popularity is due to how simple and mainstream Call of Duty games are.

They are made simple for one reason, and one reason only, for idiots like yourself.

Enjoy!

Awesome game. I've only played the multi player so far, however i read a few reviews earlier and the say that the single player campaign is better than COD:MW2.

this has gone under the radar a bit with me,with being glued to mw2,however as much as i enjoy mw2 im getting a little bored of the multiplayer maps, and im looking a game a little similar,so might give this a try.

how does it compare to the smooth gameplay of mw2 you recon?

yup im a fanboy because i like certain products over others.............oh hang on the whole world does.

and im sorry but if you think modern warfare looks anything like ghost recon/rainbow six then you need to get your eyes checked.

There's a difference between liking a product and being like you, a pathetic nerd constantly parading around these forums proclaiming how superior your precious ps3 and mw2 is (it's also incapable of running at 60fps on ps3, I have it on both consoles).

I never once said modern warfare looked like ghost recon etc, that's just your pathetic fanboy assumptions. Grow the **** up child.

Well you won't find it as smooth due to the fps drop on consoles, but that's expected with 12 v 12 battles on huge maps where everything is destructable :)

If you do get it, I'd reccomend changing the sensetivity right away, as it's automatically set very low, that usually brings things up to speed.

The Battlefield franchise has been established far longer.

Nice try but epic fail.

I want this game for under 17.99. Somebody give it to me for under 17.99.
#18
I have both games and to sum up in a fair way -

MW2 - Is for people who like fast, fun gameplay and are willing to take on annoying kids and hackers. :)

BBC2 - Is for mature adult gamers, if you value teamwork you will love this game! This is very fun, but requires team work, want to open a door but dont have a key? blow a hole in the wall - wala :w00t:

In my honest opinion BBC2 is better in the way that it requires skill, where as MW2 is just for a fun quick fix.

Im off in town to pick this one up tomorrow. Played the first one for months and never got bored , brilliant multiplayer with some moments that made me p*** myself laughing. Ive played MW2 since Xmas and even though its good im a bit bored of the maps now and ive been looking forward to this one for a while. Im getting it for the ps3 , any one had any connection issues as i have read loads online about problems with the pc version.

I really liked the first game and loved the demo of this. Personally I prefer over mw2 (although I playerd that to death as well) due to the bigger maps, vehicles, destructable scenery and better graphics.

However as a "Pure" fps its not quite as polished plus the single player is not as good as MW.

Personally I prefer this it but its down to personal taste they are both great games I play them both at the end of the day. What I would say is its a real shame they stoped the pure "Battlefield" franchise as that really was the king of this type of game, BF2 was one of the best online fps game ever made.

Anyway I go away next weekend for 2 weeks so no time to play this on live which is the main part of the game, same with Heavy Rain on the ps3 wait until I get back and pick them up cheaper.

Great price for now though from a retailer offering fast delivery so its hot from me.

all games nowadays are rip offs of earlier games, heck you can trace fps games back to the 70's although wolfenstein 3d is considered by many to be the grand daddy of all fps.
In my honest opinion BBC2 is better

prefer sky 1 myself

Needs to be cheaper!

Surely that's a joke? Borderlands is the most linear crap i've ever played (apart from Far Cry 2)!

Without really wanting to get drawn into this truly pointless debate, I thought I should point out that using Far Cry 2 as an example of a linear shooter is quite baffling. Anyways, linear doesn't mean bad, look at MW2 or Bioshock. I think I'm going to wait for BFBC2 to come down to £25 before I purchase, I still have borderlands and Bayonetta to get through.

No, BBC2 isn't a programme on Sky 1, its a game on the 360, PS3, and PC. Old people these days  bless them ;-)

i know its not a programme on sky 1. its actually the sister channel to BBC1. and 360, why would you go round in circles. PS3 why would you postscript 3 times surely once would do and its at the end of the sentece you put it. PC now when i were a lad you could say a lot of things and not get into trouble without all this politically correct crap nowadays. kids these days you have never had it so good

Does anyone know what the best PC price is? The best I can find is £23. And yes, I know about Coke Zone and EA store.

modern warfare came out before bad company.

1942 was WW2 and even that came out after the original cod.

Nice try but epic fail.

It wouldnt even matter but whats the point if it feels identical to MW.......they need to make a unique game engine.
plus theres no co-op and only 4 online modes.

just like MW2 the story is short so MW2 does have more advantages.
#30
I'm relatively sure they use their own engine that they developed for BFBC1, I think its called frostbite (now frostbite 2.0).

obviously.......infinity ward would never give them their game engine which is why they made it as similar as possible.

Stop fighting, Battlefield is the original, goes back to 1999 or something I think. Battlefield 2 was out before Modern Warfare. They are both good games one is just more multiplayer and squad based than the other.

I want this game but can't see how it's better than 1943 on the xbox. You don't get planes :(

Battlefield having any kind of single player is just a bonus so it shouldn't be knocked for that.

Yeah but are they as good as they were in Vietnam. Also I have a suspicion that they will bend me over for some DLC planes later on :(

I loved the first one and it's single player campaign! The characters and humour were great.

I'm holding off for a used copy or a cheaper deal for this one as MW2 is still keeping me busy.
#37
I don't really understand, you say they need to do their own engine, I point out that they do and then you say obviously they do. Very confusing. I think that frostbite is more focussed on the destructability of the environments, the physics associated with them and bigger draw distances. I should point out that I have no allegiance to either brand and that you clearly don't know what you're on about. Opinions are fine but in trying to get technical you've exposed yourself as a waffle master.

Lol, such a ridiculous argument. The engine is far more advanced than MW2. And by similar, what do you mean? They both show your weapon on screen and have you capturing bases, etc. That's been done since I can remember! Battlefield 2, released in 2005 has bigger and more open maps than MW2. I remember playing World at War over a friends and the tanks were just laughable, i felt like I was driving a shoebox around

And AFIAK MW uses an advanced version of the IDtech engine, you know, the one that was first used in Quake 3, a game released in 1999.
It features no /real/ destructible environments, no HBAO, small maps, no flyable choppers.

It baffles me that you think THIS is copying THIS !

ive played tons of shooters and battlefield bad company is the only game where i feel the gun physics have been taken from modern warfare.......you can hardly tell the difference.
the kick in the guns, hit response, handling all feel extremely similar.

theres nothing at all wrong with it but my point is that it doesnt feel like a new experience.

i wouldnt consider destructable environments a possitive becuase it limits environmental tactics........and you say MW2 maps are small but COD4 were even smaller and thats more sucessful than bad company 2 (metacritic)

and by choosing a single player screenshot of BC2 and putting it against an online screenshot of MW2 only reduces your credibility further.........i expected you to do better than that.

I prefer the squad and character based aspect of bad company. I also felt the second modern warfare was disappointing. I loved the first one but the second one was just not as good.
