Oooh! Just contemplating the full set!

Should I get this then wait for series 3 then 4+ to become cheap - or go the whole hog?

Dilemna!

Tempted as I only really enjoyed the first two seasons of this. After that it went downhill and had too many poor episodes in Season 3.
#3
Tempted, but I've already decided i'm going to spend my paycheck on the bluray set. Reckon seperate dvd sets would be cheaper though :)

Great TV series but will eventually get them on blu ray

superior PQ and AQ leading to better all round entertainment experience perhaps?

the series was filmed and broadcast in HD, so why get the inferior version if the superior version is available?
#9
Also... check out: Region 1 version had some better extras on some series.

DVD is really poor quality. For the longest time you could get HD TV episodes online, but not on bluray, leading me to the question - why would I buy an inferior version?

DVD is 720x576 anamorphic, which means the pixels aren't even square and have to be stretched (to 1024x576). On any LCD monitor or TV this looks **** as it has to be stretched even further to get to 1280x1024 (normal monitor), 1366x768 (cheap LCD TV) or 1920x1080 (decent monitor/TV). HD is simply so much better.

You might say, DVD is "good enough", but I really think it isn't. I think we have gotten to that stage with 1080p, and I think that the industry may struggle to find a reason for us to upgrade to a higher res - which is why I think they want us to get this 3D stuff, which I think is a gimmick.

I would invest in the blu ray if they didnt charge so much..As much as i love my dvd/blu ray collection i refuse to pay £20+ more per season for high def..Dont get me wrong im the kind of person that when in time the blu ray collection hits £50 i will hand over my cash then much like i did when i traded my vhs to dvd for the right price!!

A mate of mine has the complete series on blu-ray and said he'd wished he bought the standard dvd set, and saved a ton of money! He told me they shot the series with a deliberate 'grainy' effect added that really detracts from the video quality.

I've not seen it yet to comment but I know he's running a top of the line 1080p Kuro.

It's only a tv series and I don't remember movies and plotlines in HD in my memories. Maybe you do.... if YOU'RE A CYLON!! :P Aww, season 2 was the last time this series was decent a big shame because I loved it :(

I've just bought the first 10 episodes on Amazon Marketplace for 1p +£1.24 postage, and got a copy of the individual disc which contains 11-13 and extras on ebay for £2.00.

+1

If you haven't watched it before then you'd probably be able to tell from the mini series whether or not you'll like it. You'll probably get it cheaper on ebay though.
