nice to see them releasing the whole thing in HD, but still a bit pricey...
#2
Yes they are taking the urine with the price of this, but this is easy the cheapest by far so H+R

Thanks, Frackin hot.

Want but couldn't justify £102

True, but another way to look at is the set works out at around £5.13 a disc. If you're a fan (I'm not) I would say that's pretty decent.
#5
Great series but I will wait until the price drops a lot more.
#6
would love to get this!

maybe when its £30... :whistling:
#7
Just need to get a blu-ray player now....
#8
It is most definitely worth watching, of course if you're a sci-fi fan but also if you like good drama. Some parts of it are much less focussed on space travel and robots but politics and love triangles...

Granted, £100 is still a lot to pay though!
#9
Shame the UK isn't getting the same as the US:
http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Edward-James-Olmos/dp/B001993Y2C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1249385769&sr=8-2

Cheaper (possibly) and free Cylon :x
#10
you say it's alot of cash to pay but remember it's 4 seasons plus the Mini Series & Razor movies. The set also includes all the extended versions of the episodes which up until now we (UK) I believe never got previously on the DVD sets.

When you consider some blu-ray TV sets for one season can be £40 +, I think this is a fairly decent price for something new. I suppose it does depend on how much of a fan you are as well.

HOT! The US version is out now and it's region free, but to import it would cost around £200, definitely cheaper getting this and waiting for September. I don't mind not having the cylon figurine too much either, at least the UK boxset has proper cases for the discs instead of slip sleeves.

I think £102 is great for a blu ray box set with the entire series, mini series, and movies included, as well as (apparently) 70 hours worth of extras.
#12
Again - not a complete release, worth hanging out for the inevitable release including 'the plan'

That's partly why the UK set appeals to me as well. The US one appears to be made out of cardboard where as the UK one is more of a tin.

Also I am not sure but I believe this set won't include the movie "The Plan"? because it's not being shown until late Oct sometime.
#14
Cancelled my Amazon preorder for this, thanks.
#15
Gonna wait it out. Its only four seasons so i'm sure this will come down to around £80 which is what I would be willing to pay.
#16
COLD. That amount for a series made over 20 years ago. Come off it.

If you're wanting a 'complete' release then you could be waiting a while.. Edward James Olmos himself has said that The Plan will not be the last movie.

So unless you want to wait another 3 years or so for a potential new box-set I'd say this is worth buying.

Saying that, I'm still gonna wait until it's come down in price a bit. Will hopefully be cheaper around christmas.

Erm...hello.This isn't the original 80's series. It's the new,re-imagined series (well.4 series actually, plus extended pilot episodes and tv movie).

Maybe a good idea to check your facts before making negative comments ;)

I take it you are joking but just in case you aren't this is the REMAKE and also the best thing I've seen on TV for ages, a lot of money but the cheapest by far, heat from me but out of my price range I'm afraid

I couldnt take to this series when they made Starbuck a woman, it was almost herecy in Sci Fi terms, imagine bringing back Star Wars and having Han Solo as a woman, tsssk. DONT MESS WITH HISTORY.
#21
It's cheap as hell! 4 full series on Blu-Ray for £100. £25 a series, how is that expensive? Series on DVD cost more than that!

Pre-ordered :)

Incidentally, US series is more expensive, review here http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviewshd/bdreviews071609.html

We do get all the discs btw, just no cardboard packaging and plastic cylon.

Your preciousness for a frankly pretty poor original has deprived your of the experience of watching one of the greatest tv shows of all time.

Hot price.

Err ok my baddi, although title does not state clearly that this is the remake or newer edition. Still too expensive though, just releasing it is not enough to make this a hot deal imo, so from me, still over priced.

Spoken like a true sheep.

The way you are almost making excuses for this shockingly overpriced collection. You must be a marketing man's dream.

That's quite rude.

I happen to think it's a decent price - that doesn't make me a sheep. If you compare it to other tv box sets like 24 or House then it works out quite fair.

And this is HD and much better.

That's fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion about the price. I just feel that for 4 seasons at approx £25 a set inc 2 movies and extras, it's not a bad buy. For example I won't be paying £50+ for S7 blu-ray of 24 when it comes out in Oct, that is a stupid price. Some sets on blu-ray are just cons.

I have no doubt that this set will drop in price eventually but for those wanting it on release day and especially if you have never seen it before, it does represent a fair price IMO.

Yep, he said it at comic-con.

It's not set in stone.. It was more of a "I definitely want to do more... and as long as The Plan sells well enough then we will do!"

He's just so confident in the fans and their support for BSG that he "guaranteed" us The Plan won't be the last movie.

It's been made my friend... you can watch clips on youtube.

Would you buy the harry potter boxset knowing that there's more films to go in it? I'm a completist so I'd want the whole saga, it would do my nut in having this on the shelf and a seperate dvd for the plan or the 'other' movies. Truth is I'll probably never buy this while there's the possibility they'll add to it...
#38
This is a good price considering it's £80 for the dvd boxset, Surely HD picture & master audio is worth the extra £20 :-D

This is slightly off topic but did anyone else think the last 10 episodes got rushed with too much happening in too short space of time. Especially considering they very often have episodes which don't seem to move the story and all of a sudden it's too much too quick. It left me feeling that it was a little uncompleted too because of it.

Puts me personally of buying it even though I would call myself a fan.
